I just created my CaneID and found out I'm in! I got a call from the FSU Director of Admissions today, so I got into FSU and UM on the same day!!!

did anyone else get accepted before their file was complete?

because I evidently was.

opened up my myUM account, which i created the other day cause i was bored, and had the big congratulations page. but my second LOR isn't in yet, and according to the miami website, they require two...interesting.

I have no way of knowing if I was accepted before it was complete, but as of Wednesday I was on the phone w/them and they just then found my 2nd LOR, at the time I sent in my app, I only had 1.. is your letter showing up on the LSAC site? Because if so, they probably have it.

nope, the letter isn't on LSAC either.

i actually just spoke to the prof who is writing it, and he said he's going to do it this weekend but his wife just had twins and evidently that keeps people pretty busy...

excuses excuses. i have to assume he knew about these 'twins' for a while, could written my damn letter while they were still...contained

most likely I had that problem with a prof too.. took FOREVER ..

I just went to the website and set up a UM login account. They never even emailed me and let me know that I had gone complete, but when I logged on it said I had been accepted.

how do you do this exactly? i can't seem to find where i can set one up.

has anyone else had any problems logging into the myum to check their application status? i received an e-mail telling me to check my status but i cannot answer my security question when trying to create an account. i don't remember even filling out any information or giving an answer to the question to um. does anyone else have this problem?

go to "My UMlogin" -> when that screen pops up, on the bottom, click on "first time using CaneID".. it will be pretty self-explanatory from there

No mention of it in my letter or online status checker. I have heard (somewhere, I forgot where) that UM sends that stuff out later, sometime after the new year.

Yeah first acceptance too! I just tried to login to the admitted students website and it says my social and bday don't match their records. I called and they said they're going to get right on the problem so that was nice to hear!

Also is the admitted student website different from the My UM site? Is everyone given access to My UM or only admitted students?

The first time I logged into my UM site it said congrats on the acceptance to miami. It also says its great to be miami hurricane.

For you all who applied to Miami or were recently accepted...

I find Miami's application annoying...it asks you to list all of your writing/papers from undergrad or your writing/articles if you were a journalist or whatever. I'm a journalism major, so I guess I'm going to list some of the stories I've written with a brief explanation, it's just kinda annoying because I don't remember every writing assignment from my other classes in college. Also, it gives a huge space to write about adversity...do you all think a diversity statement would suffice in its place? What did you guys do?
