Congratulations to everyone who was admitted today!
I'm sure there's nothing quite like an acceptance to start off December!

Not everyone likes sharing them. If you have searched TLS posts and LSN accounts and cannot find a user, then PM him/her/ze with the request.vho1791 wrote:Congrats to all!

I'm pretty excited that the email said scholarship info will come along with the admissions packet! I'm drawn to UCI because of its clerkship numbers, potential full ride, and because it'd allow me to stay in Southern California.cyclawps wrote:Same to you. I feel the same about the clerkships. I'm not as drawn to Southern California, but I appreciate that it can place me in the southwest. What do you think their clerkship rate comes from? It seems incredibly high compared to its ranking anywhere.Assasindowntheavenue wrote:I'm pretty excited that the email said scholarship info will come along with the admissions packet! Re: UC Irvine c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
It's my understanding that their relatively high clerkship rate stems from the Dean Chemerinsky pulling strings and really selling the candidate to make up for the perceived drop in prestige between a clerk from a T6 and one from UCI. It's great for the students that end up with clerkships but the real question is: Is this a sustainable practice?cyclawps wrote:I feel the same about the clerkships. I see... Mine was complete on Oct 31 and I haven't received anything. That definitely can not be a good signcrookedsmile wrote:Late October. I want to say around the 28thCPAlawHopefu wrote:For those accepted, when did you apply?

Re: UC Irvine c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Far too early for people to get worried - it's only December 1 for pete's sake. Admissions could just be doing things in alphabetical order for all we know. That being said, I was complete in mid October.
I am actually really interested in UCI (you had to be do to deal their odd essay requirements). We'll have to see what the full package says, but having such a great prof/student ratio is very appealing.

I don't need you to tell me whether I should be worried or not. I've already been waitlisted and denied at two of my top choices, and with UCI dinged, I'll be left with nothing but my second choice schools, so I believe that my concerns are well placed and deserved.mudiverse wrote:Far too early for people to get worried - it's only December 1 for pete's sake. And I don't think there is a single person here who applied to UCI without a legitimate interest in it.

The hardest part of my whole application process was condensing my already finalized personal statement to 500 words lol. Thank god that's over. But I agree, we should all try to relax a little. Most of us have a while to go until the process is over.mudiverse wrote:Far too early for people to get worried - it's only December 1 for pete's sake. 1. Your chances at UCI have no causal connection with your previous decisions. Yes, you may be worried about your overall standing, but mudiverse is correct about worrying and the current timeline. At any rate, I bet each one of us on the UCI thread is rooting for you.CPAlawHopefu wrote:I don't need you to tell me whether I should be worried or not. 2. Plenty of people apply to schools for scholarship negotiation, especially if they get a fee waiver. Hopefully, they'll withdraw soon after getting the leverage they need and better others' chances.

I've heard similar theories, but am not really sure. Def doesn't seem sustainable, yet UCI is continuing to do well amongst its peers. Also grats Crookedsmile!crookedsmile wrote:It's my understanding that their relatively high clerkship rate stems from the Dean Chemerinsky pulling strings and really selling the candidate to make up for the perceived drop in prestige between a clerk from a T6 and one from UCI. Not I - they said around this week and I am assuming it's going to come by physical mail. Very curious to see any scholarship $$ since I'm from out of state.Assasindowntheavenue wrote:Anyone receive their admissions packet yet?
