I probably don't have the right to be posting here considering I haven't been held/wl'd/dinged/accepted/anything'd, but since some of you folks have researched prior decision patterns, I'm curious if in the past held people started hearing back before some people got any decision/hold notification. I know hold ≠ wl so I get if the answer is yes, and I'm not rooting against anyone here. Just curious/slightly annoyed by CLS.

I have no numbers or anything similar, but the whole idea behind holding people is to compare them to the rest of the applicant pool in its entirety. Given that, I would imagine that the later applicants and the Held group will find out at similar times in no particular order.AnonymousPython wrote:I probably don't have the right to be posting here considering I haven't been held/wl'd/dinged/accepted/anything'd, but since some of you folks have researched prior decision patterns, I'm curious if in the past held people started hearing back before some people got any decision/hold notification. Thanks - that makes sense. I just wish they would send hold notifications to everyone they think falls into that pool by the end of March (and wl'd/dinging others), instead of radio silence for some.Topszn wrote:I have no numbers or anything similar, but the whole idea behind holding people is to compare them to the rest of the applicant pool in its entirety. I have no idea if this helps you guys at all but I kinda felt like I was unofficially held for a while. I applied in January and I just got my decision today. Again I don't know if this helps but there do seem to be decisions going out in general.

From what I remember from earlier discussion it was pretty split. I wasn't interviewed.Budfox55 wrote:Did most ppl who are held have an interview?

Yup. I have, but given that interviewing isn't necessary for admission I wouldn't read into it if you haven't!Seanasr wrote:From what I remember from earlier discussion it was pretty split. I wasn't interviewed.Budfox55 wrote:Did most ppl who are held have an interview?

Re: Held at Columbia c/o 2019
Checking in here. To be honest, I'm in disbelief. UPenn, HLS, Chicago, Berkeley, Duke and NYU rejected me. Still waiting to hear from Yale and Stanford. UVA waitlisted me.
My LSAT and Cum GPA are both well under the median, and I'm NOT a URM.
Is there anybody else in my boat? I feel like I'm either incredibly blessed for them to see beyond my numbers at my softs and master's degree, or they pity me for being a veteran and want to let me down slowly!
Good luck to everyone dealing with this brief period of purgatory.

Held means a decision hasn't been made yet (it can still be rejection, waitlist, or acceptance), while reserve = waitlist.lwo786 wrote:what's the difference between held and reserve?

Today's the day folks. I can smell it in the sunny, crisp, and sweet-smelling (LOL) NY air.
On a serious note...for those of us in NY, its a fucking beautiful day today.

I think the reserve wave is more oriented towards applicants who have yet to hear from CLS.Topszn wrote:Big reserve wave going out today by the looks of things, not sure what this means for us...
Our reserve wave won't come until right before the deadline.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
