Just curious but where did you get the info that they're cutting class sizes to boost LSAT?periwinkley wrote:http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... p?t=225363cak3893 wrote:What percentage of applicants usually gets off the waitlist?
According to this, something around 20%? Might be lower this year if they're cutting class sizes to boost median LSAT.

Within "special group" of the preferred waitlist. Not sure how special group is different from the preferred waitlist?

It can vary. I've heard that Georgetown generally pulls equally from all wait lists, though if you utilize your efforts to show your committed to Georgetown if they take you, you'll have a better shot if you are on a better wait list. The special group within the preferred wait list is the highest wait list group there is so if you show your commitment to go to Georgetown if accepted, you'll probably get accepted (relatively) easily. If you barely try, then you stand less of a shot than someone who is on the regular wait list that tries and shows commitment.BKing wrote:Within "special group" of the preferred waitlist. CAUTION: 80% of that is all speculation.

When did you get put in the 'special group'? before or after you received your preferred waitlist email?BKing wrote:Within "special group" of the preferred waitlist. Not sure how special group is different from the preferred waitlist?

Checking in, on the preferred waitlist, not of the special variety though unfortunately. Sent in an LOCI this weekend which was confirmed this morning. I'll be riding it out here for as long as I reasonably can.

My email said that I've been placed in the "upper echelons" of a special group within the Preferred Waiting List.BKing wrote:I was told that I was placed in the special group in the waitlist email:conztance wrote:When did you get put in the 'special group'? before or after you received your preferred waitlist email?BKing wrote:Within "special group" of the preferred waitlist. I felt good about my Preferred Waiting List until you told us there was a "special group" within that list. Question: Are you full time or part time applicant?

Actually feeling a little bit of professional hate for the 'special group' right now...

I know how you feel, my husband works in DC, and if I don't go to school at GULC I'll end up a 2 hour flight away for the next 3 years. Waiting this one out as long as I can.osgiliath wrote:It especially pains me that I live and work in DC but they won't even interview me

Re: Georgetown Wait-List 2015-2016 (Class of 2019)
Basically, "around the end of April" when most seat deposits for Georgetown are in (and they have a good idea of what their class looks like and what they still need), they send out emails to all the waitlisted candidates, asking if they're still interested in being on the waitlist. When they send this email, they begin looking at waitlisted candidates.conztance wrote:What is this again?Anonnonnon wrote:When do you guys think they'll send out the waitlist feeler emails?

Re: Georgetown Wait-List 2015-2016 (Class of 2019)
Good afternoon from Georgetown. I'm writing to you today to give you an update on the Georgetown waiting list. As you know, you are on our preferred waiting list, which we typically look to first if spaces open up in the entering class.Anonnonnon wrote:Ah really?? Haha wow what timing!! As of today our deposits are quite strong, and we are not planning to make many offers prior to our May 1st deposit deadline. However, these things have a way of changing so it is always possible we will have room in the next few weeks.
If we do extend offers of admission, the Committee will be particularly interested in applicants who truly want to be at Georgetown. Please continue to keep in touch with us with your level of interest and any changes in your application through admis@law.georgetown.edu.
If you don't hear from us earlier, the key date for us (and you) is May 2nd when our first deposits are due. With the usual extension requests, we will know for sure whether we have any Round One openings by Monday, May 9th at the latest. We will be back in touch then, if not before.
We look forward to hearing back from you and we thank you again for your continued interest in Georgetown and for your patience with our process.

Hmmm. Interesting. I wonder if they're sending out the waitlist feeler emails to those on the preferred waitlist first. I suppose that makes sense.Law2511 wrote:Good afternoon from Georgetown.
