Called admissions today. They said that they aren't releasing any more decisions before Christmas. They said first week of January.

Any more? Jeez that's kind of concerning, you'd think between TLS and LSN word would have gotten out about acceptances. Kinda sucks that we gotta wait over 2 weeks after already being within their 6-8 week window. Thanks for putting in the call and sharing!bievmic wrote:Called admissions today. Are you sure they said "not releasing any more" as opposed to "any" decisions before Xmas?bievmic wrote:Called admissions today. They said that they aren't releasing any more decisions before Christmas. They said first week of January.

Given that no one has come forward on any site with any kind of movement from this school, I really doubt if anyone has received a decision

New Poll idead, OP:
When will the first round of decisions be handed out? We could do 2-3 day increments and manage to cover the first 3 weeks of January 2016.

For current students or people who have visited the campus already -
I was looking online and It seems like the Law School is quite literally across from a cemetery. I've never been to Champaign so I was wondering if when you're sitting in class or walking around campus if it's just tombstones everywhere you look.

I visited campus recently. It's true that the law school is across the street from a cemetery but you can't really see it. From what I remember, the only large south-facing window is near the cafe/lunch area. A current/recent student could probably back me up here but I don't believe that there are any significant areas/large windows facing the south (cemetery). In fact, of all the large class auditoriums I saw, none of them had windows. So don't worry about seeing it during class

I went there for undergrad and it's true that there is a large cemetery directly south of the law building. I've been to the building multiple times and I've honestly never been in a single room that faced it so maybe it's mostly office space. The cemetery is basically full so it's not like there will be funerals next to the building every day.

Hoping for decisions today! I'm sure this has been addressed, but when were the first decisions last cycle? I feel like they were quite a bit earlier than this...

Thanks! Hopefully we don't have to wait until the middle of the month. Seems odd they haven't released any decisions yet.

I'm a current student and will tell you that you don't need to worry about looking out the window at anything during class, because literally none of the classrooms have windows.ArticSnowPanther wrote:For current students or people who have visited the campus already -

So Illinois actually boasts a very impressive 23-25% BL rate since 2012. Seems very strong. They weren't initially on my list, but they seem a very strong regional option.
Any current students/alumni around? Is there anything propping those numbers up? They seem a bit too good to be true based on the schools overall ranking.

Look at the school rankings before they got caught with the scandal...then it makes sense. On my list for this same reasonmornincounselor wrote:So Illinois actually boasts a very impressive 23-25% BL rate since 2012. Seems very strong. Or Brian Leiters blog. He's written extensively on how Illinois outperforms its rankings when it comes to getting good jobs. It probably has good BL % because of it's proximity to the large legal market in Chicago.PSPSPSPS wrote:Look at the school rankings before they got caught with the scandal...then it makes sense. I was about to mention this. I would much rather look out to a cemetery from the library than what we have now.fallingup77 wrote:I'm a current student and will tell you that you don't need to worry about looking out the window at anything during class, because literally none of the classrooms have windows.ArticSnowPanther wrote:For current students or people who have visited the campus already -

Outside of the lack of windows and one-ply toilet paper, I love the school.

I'm sorry, can you link to the blog you are talking about. I found his site but couldn't find anything about UIUC.Harry_Pluxen wrote:Or Brian Leiters blog. Re: University of Illinois c/o 2019 Applicants
I don't have a link to the exact blog post. However, I have checked in on his blog over the years and remember him writing about UIUC several times. It was not as if he wrote about it on its own, but rather in posts about law school in general. I got the feeling that he believes it to be a highly regarded school. What I should have said is that he has casually praised the school many times in his posts, not that he has written extensively on it.mornincounselor wrote:I'm sorry, can you link to the blog you are talking about.
