Re: UCLA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
You were right!! It was a call notifying me of admission. Work was rough this morning so that got me through the day. Best of luck to everyone else who has applied/is in the process of doing so!James.K.Polk wrote:Lextor wrote:I just got a phone call message from the UCLA Dean of Admissions asking to call back. I submitted by app the 21st. Does anyone have an idea what they could be calling about? I am having a mini freak out at work right now and plan to call them back when I take my text break.![]()
You're in bro (this is where I'd put the 'I guarantee it' suit guy, but I can't post pics).
Also, that guy went to my alma mater.

It rained last week and I think it's supposed to rain today. CA's drought problem while still bad has gotten better due to a couple of measures the state tookgobears!! wrote:Checking in! Applied 9/8 and am still hanging out in received land.
SoCal is nice, but if we don't get some rain out Californi-Way it could be rough down there.

TC maybe you should change that picture?
powell library is an iconic ucla building for sure but 99% of law students will probably never step foot in there

Re: UCLA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Checking in, submitting after October LSAT.
Is it standard to write a "Why UCLA law" essay when applying? I haven't written one, but based on what I have read in this thread, it appears it would aid my application. I have a diversity statement already and I mention reasons for wanting to attend UCLA in my personal statement. I would not want to inundate the adcomm with too much extra information.
Thoughts?

Re: UCLA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
The UCLA app has a section where it asks you to state a particular program/something about UCLA in particular that interests you, and then you have space to write a paragraph why. I would highly recommend filling that portion out, even though it is optional. They put it there for a reason, right? If you fill out that portion, and especially considering you mentioned "why UCLA" in other areas, you should be set as far as "Why UCLA" essays are concerned.Harry_Pluxen wrote:Checking in, submitting after October LSAT.

Re: UCLA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
That's what I did. I wrote mine on the Epstein PI program. I didn't apply for it because the app indicated that they placed a lot of value on previous experience (which I don't have). In my essay, I stressed that I hoped to apply for it after 1L and that I'm applying for spring internships with my local PD and legal aid office to gain experience. I'm wondering now if that was a mistake, and I should've just applied anyway. That might cause them to think I wasn't serious.Lextor wrote:The UCLA app has a section where it asks you to state a particular program/something about UCLA in particular that interests you, and then you have space to write a paragraph why. Re: UCLA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
if you're below both medians, a splitter (regular or reverse), or a YP candidate i highly recommend writing the why UCLA essay as well as a programmatic contribution essay if you can
