Dont get me wrong...Raleigh is no Austin or San Francisco, and I prefer the Durham nightlife to Raleigh, but it is nice that they are so close. Pm me if you wanna chat a little more about it.barley wrote:
Yeah, I don't have any experience with the city or the area, so I'm not discounting it at all! I'm more of a big(-ish) city person, so glad to hear that Raleigh is so accessible.

What's the deal with PT and taking the LSAT for the first time in Oct? (in other words, can it happen?)

Unfortunately I don't think they will care about my opinion of the basketball team. Can't hurt though!urbanist11 wrote:Diehard sports fan in our midst, I seebenwyatt wrote:Basketball is the sport with the rackets, right?urbanist11 wrote:Get out (kidding)lakers3 wrote:Checking in. Re: Duke University School of Law C/O 2019 Applicants
At first I was absolutely determined not to go anywhere near the south, but I've been reading more about Duke and am seriously considering sending in an app. I just don't know where I would rank it with the other schools I'm applying to.
So I'm kind of checking in.

I'm worried that Duke is returning to its pre-2009 level of selectivity faster than the other T14 schools. It has risen in the USNWR rankings and seems to have weathered the collapse in applications well.

You're right. It's better to reserve judgment until the 2018 class profile statistics are released anyway.urbanist11 wrote:Don't lay attention to usnwr. That kind of small movement means nothing. Either way dukes #s have been the same the last 3 years so not sure where you are getting that idea from.SabbathPuppet wrote:I'm worried that Duke is returning to its pre-2009 level of selectivity faster than the other T14 schools. From what I remember stalking the C/O 2018 thread I'm pretty sure they do multiple rounds!urbanist11 wrote:Last year pt invites were late Aug so unless they do multiple rounds I'd say noAMajorChord wrote:What's the deal with PT and taking the LSAT for the first time in Oct? Re: Duke University School of Law C/O 2019 Applicants
So I looked on the C/O 2018 applicant thread to find more information on PTs -
For the C/O 2017, first PT invites came out Aug 21
For 2018, first PT invites came out Aug 28
The first admit under PT was on Sept 5
September LSAT scores were released around Oct 20
October PT invites came out on Oct 27
It seems like the stats needed for PT are a bit unpredictable, but it looks like most have either both LSAT and GPA over median, or one over a 75th and one hovering slightly below median. Can't tell if they favor LSAT or GPA more in the algorithm (if they use one at all).
CRS preferences seem to have an influence as well. Someone with v good stats didn't receive a PT invite, then said they changed their CRS preferences to reflect Duke (I assume by saying they liked NC) and received an invite very shortly after.
Based on the Duke Admission results spreadsheet for last years cycle (found at the top of the LS Accept/WL/Denial thread) it looks like about 80% of TLSers than get PT are admitted and 11% wait listed. no data on denials.
Hope this helps!!
