why and why?
i've visited the school/area twice and my takeaways are that...
penn and university city and century city are steeped in cultural history. also the buildings/campus are very beautifully dilapidated and slightly decaying - but this just adds to the charm.
downsides would include the general cloudiness as well as pretty bad neighborhoods virtually right next to the school

Does anyone know how Penn is for PI? I haven't heard anything to suggest it has a strong PI reputation, but their website seems to put a huge emphasis on it. Are they for real?
LST has Penn at 3.2% of students in PI jobs, which is certainly much lower than, say, NYU who has 11.3%. That said I suspect much of this is due to self-selection. Penn as a very high big firm score and I suspect they attract more business law minded students. This is probably a good question to ask current Penn students. I'd suspect the reputation of Penn and its resources are good enough to help you place into PI if that's your goal.
Yeah, I thought that number was a bit low - so I was surprised by how central PI was on their website. I'll have to look into it more and report back!

thanks for the input! I haven't had the chance to visit yet, and I'm hoping to do so in the near future.

I go there undergrad, and it's so segmented from the bad neighborhoods that they're virtually non-existent. I'm not saying this type of (basically) gentrification is good overall, but speaking to your bad neighborhood point, it's a non-issue.

Checking in here and also considering ED.
Anyone agree that, compared to other schools, Penn's social media presence/marketing game is on fleek?

Yeah, Philly is my wife's number 1 choice. A lot of her rowing friends live there. It's a fun city.

Yes, back when I was visiting undergraduate colleges! I liked the campus quite a bit, although the city itself wasn't my favorite.

Nothing beats that Liberty Bell

In elementary school, I used to have a pencil sharpener in the shape of the Liberty Bell...

Ahaha, I will refrain from making the obvious joke here. Somewhat unrelatedly, as I aged, I found that equipping myself with good school supplies became more and more important to me. Anyone else feel that way, or is a pencil a pencil no matter what?

I was definitely annoyed we couldn't use mechanical pencils on the LSAT, but I guess wooden ones did make filling in the bubbles a tiny bit faster.

I'm a strong advocate for the Dixon Triconderoga pencil. It's triangular in shape which I found gave my hand fewer cramps.
Kind of a pain to sharpen the first time though.
...and that's where my Liberty Bell sharpener can come to the rescue!
But in reality, it was probably as effective as urbanist's White House eraser.

I'm left handed so pencils can go to hell. A basic Bic pen suits me fine.
