I heard June test takers were up. Hoping they stay down overall... Don't want to regret my decision to sit out a cycle and retake.

Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I posted this in another thread but I was also already admitted for 2015-2016 cycle as a deferral student last month with a scholly. Will be taking a scholly to a peer school instead where I didn't have to wait and can attend this year. Best of luck everyone!

That Snape fan club, haha. Yup, the books were pretty intense. I've also heard that the Swedish versions are much better / more true to the books, so I look forward to watching them.LadyProspero wrote:She's so fucking badass she's scary. From what I know the Swedish versions are a lot more intense, and from having seen them I thought they were a lot more intense than what you usually see in American films. You should watch them for sure! Though I never read the books, I'm sure they're just as brutal.
I always loved Ron Weasley. That comic relief. Snape is pretty cool too though, to be cliche haha.

Yeah, that's a little bit off-putting to me. Do you know if people find it to be a "boy's club"? Though I guess if it is, it'll be good practice for the rest of the legal profession!urbanist11 wrote:No kidding. I can't speak to the law school itself, but I did go for undergrad and I can say there is something for everyone at UVA. Charlottesville is obviously quite different from Chicago or New York, but it definitely punches above its weight in terms of being progressive and inclusive.urbanist11 wrote:I'd honestly speculate it's mostly just the sort of bro culture that comes from having a lot of men around. But there are a few ask UVA student threads around so it might be worth getting their take on it.

Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Back when I was looking at UVA, the split was not nearly that large, and past year's class profiles show that it is pretty consistent with peer schools. I suspect the 64/36 split was just a fluke. Can't speak about the culture too much other than that I was not offended by it (and I am not at all fratty) when I visited. Seemed like a nice place to be, and I usually prefer the big cities.barley wrote:Yeah, that's a little bit off-putting to me. Do you know if people find it to be a "boy's club"? No problem. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the c/o 2018 profile and post it when it is available.urbanist11 wrote:Oh that's good to know. Thanks for the insight. I suspect the whole frat thing is a little overhyped. It will be interesting to see if they actively try to balance the gender profile out a little more.

Haha, I like your reasoning there.slippin_jimmy wrote:Yeah, I mean, I feel that UVA and Duke will both feel fratty in comparison to the T-14, just by comparison and the fact that the undergrad populations there lean Southern/fratty. And if there are fratty law students, they're most likely hella smart because... they're there.urbanist11 wrote:Oh that's good to know. Thanks for the insight. Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I will say that people do like to party there and alcohol is a large part of the social scene (probably more than other schools in the T14). If that's how "fratty" is defined, I guess it is earned. As far as the southern thing is concerned, I view it as a pseudo-southern identity. Some kids try to perpetuate the romanticized view of it, but they really don't know what they're talking about. I'd estimate most are from Northern Virginia (which is so un-Southern it is ridiculous) and have no idea what the rest of Virginia is like, let alone states like Georgia, Louisiana, or Mississippi.slippin_jimmy wrote:
