Anyone have thoughts on snail mail vs. email LOCI?

I sent a snail mail LOCI to Dean Cornblatt last week and plan to follow up next week. It might be an old school way of thinking, but a hard copy letter conveys a little more effort on the part of the sender. I'll let you know if anything comes of it.carolinagirl723 wrote:Anyone have thoughts on snail mail vs. email LOCI?

Re: Georgetown Wait-List 2014-2015
Has anyone who visited or called managed to get info on how big the various waitlists are? I remember reading on a thread from last year that one of the admissions peeps fielding calls mentioned that the waitlist was hundreds of people long...

I have also read somewhere that it isn't always the case that emailed materials make it into your application file. Snail mail seems to be a safer bet.nachase wrote:I sent a snail mail LOCI to Dean Cornblatt last week and plan to follow up next week. Re: Georgetown Wait-List 2014-2015
Regular WL here - just had a quick question about the LOCI; what exactly are we supposed to be putting in the LOCI? I am out of school currently so I don't have any updates as far as grades go, but I wasn't sure what else we were supposed to be including.
As far as visiting goes, I am visiting family in the DC area in March so I planned to visit then.

I tied my LOCI into my personal statement but with a more narrowly tailored focus. I reiterated why I want to go to Georgetown above all others as well as things I have done recently that speak to those reasons (I am in the Army and I want to do veterans' legal advocacy).retirw wrote:Regular WL here - just had a quick question about the LOCI; what exactly are we supposed to be putting in the LOCI? The school itself is jaw-dropping. Its also located in a great area and close to many DC attractions.ckyo01 wrote:Hello folks,
May I ask what all of your reasons are for applying to Georgetown? Why GULC?
Prestige? Location? What about location?
My family is in DC and that in itself is almost enough for me to want Georgetown. But what makes GULC so special? (Or not special)

+1. I am as well. I am on "Preferred Waiting List." Is that the "second best" list? Is there a 3rd waiting list?

Re: Georgetown Wait-List 2014-2015
Just put on regular waiting list. Do I have a prayer? And I assume I should write a loci?
Also I wasn't asked to do an interview. Should I request one in my loci or send another email asking for one?

What was the specific verbiage on your emails?
I received "The Committee on Admissions has reviewed your application and has placed your name in a special group within our Preferred Waiting List."
I guess this is the "special" preferred waiting list?

Honestly, probably not. We'll have to wait until the first deposit is due and people start to withdraw. That's what admissions told me.Peta wrote:Will we not see movement until May?

The preferred waitlist email states that I will be contacted in May for confirmation of continued interest, and does not mention submission of LOCI or updated information. Should I still be sending the LOCI immediately?

I'm a unicorn in this fairytale "special" preferred waitlist. The wait is painful, the uncertainty is soul-crushing. Please just let me be dramatic about this one...santoki wrote:anyone this time get on the rumored "special" preferred WL?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
