From what I've gathered from last year's thread, there was barely any movement until late March. My plan is create a little packet of new info (fall transcript, another LOR, LOCI, maybe a Diversity statement..) and send them all out at once the first week of March.monkeyKT wrote:Any movements?
Really? So you saw movements before the April deadline??? OoOoOo. I wish I could truly show them how much I want to go there. They can have my first born child. Really. I would give anything to be there.LaraCroftEsq wrote:From what I've gathered from last year's thread, there was barely any movement until late March. Depends on my other offers. I'm still waiting to hear from USC. I'm from the east coast and am really just aiming to be in the LA area. They both seem like great options. I've been accepted to Pepperdine with $ but, if that ends up being my only option in LA after this cycle, I'll definitely consider transferring.Drowninmyowntears wrote: Has anyone thought about transferring after 1L year if they don't get in off the WL?

Been writing one per month since getting WL'd in December. I heard that they don't even read them til April/May after the deposit deadline and they start pulling people off the WL, but I'll just keep writing them.LawsRUs wrote:Any movement?
Have you all submitted your LOCI?
Are you all planning on staying on the WL?

Apparently 25% of the incoming class were dragged off of the waitlist. Assuming a 314 class size, it means about 78 students from those "enrolled" were waitlisted. This doesn't say much about how many waitlisted applicants were accepted, as many waitlisted candidates could have been offered admission but declined to matriculate.GreenMilkTea wrote:Does anyone know the chances of getting in from the waitlist? I'm waitlisted, 167/3.0 lol

That was very helpful. Thanks!mohdban wrote:Apparently 25% of the incoming class were dragged off of the waitlist. But given that UCLA generally interviews waitlisted applicants to ensure they will attend if admitted, for the sake of finding the magic number of how many waitlisted applicants are admitted, it is "ok" to assume that those 78 students were the only students offered admission from the waitlist.
The last step is to know how many applicants are waitlisted per year. I believe I heard 200 somewhere, so if this is accurate, the probability of you getting off of the waitlist is 78/200 = 39%.
Take all the above with a grain of salt, obviously.
I read the threads from previous years. Some people got offered money from the waitlist...even sizable chunks, however it's kind of a toss up...if you make it really clear in LOCI that Ucla is your top choice no matter what, they won't feel the need to offer you any money, but then if you don't make your commitment to the school clear, you might not get off the waitlist. I think the people who get money off the waitlist are mostly people who were Waitlisted for yield protection reasons. I wouldn't count on getting any money unless your numbers are pretty high.LawsRUs wrote:Thanks mohd!! Is there any info on getting sizable scholarship off WL?
Thanks! That was helpful. Ooo writing this LOCI sounds fun: It's like "UCLA, I really like you, but I don't like you."Drowninmyowntears wrote:I read the threads from previous years. I still haven't submitted one, shooting to send one this week. Not sure if sending it this late has an affect on my chances or not.nefedova wrote:Hey guys!
Anyone hear anything? I submitted a LOCI early in March. Probably submitting another one sometime soon.
