cuboxing - Columbus is really affordable. It's easy to find cheap rentals in fairly safe areas, especially if you're willing to live with multiple roommates. Friends in the area live in a 3 BR house near campus and pay about $300 each plus utilities (which they said add up to be about $75 per person per month). There are also a lot of housing complexes that cater to students and young professionals, I don't know a lot about them but they seem to be fairly popular. It's virtually impossible to get around the city without a car, so definitely take that into account when you're making plans.cuboxing25 wrote:cool just checking, anyone know what the COL is like in Columbus?megs2015 wrote:Sure did.cuboxing25 wrote:did everyone get that government law email?

The COL is really reasonable. I've lived in Columbus the past two summers for internships. Last summer I lived alone in a one-bedroom about three blocks from campus and paid $500/month plus utilities, which were about $75/month. The apartment was a fairly typical student apartment for Columbus...not too fancy, not too crappy. It was more expensive because it was a single. Some suburbs are more expensive than others but with roommates the rents are very reasonable. You will definitely need a car if you want to travel around the city. It's really a great city for young people.cuboxing25 wrote:cool just checking, anyone know what the COL is like in Columbus?megs2015 wrote:Sure did.cuboxing25 wrote:did everyone get that government law email?

Parking passes that the city sells are for nearby where you live. It's 25 dollars for the year, but it's all parallel and on street. Some of the real estate companies provide off street at your apartment or house, usually under a 100 for the year. Campus parking is pretty expensive...around 3 or 400+ dollars for the year or a few dollars an hour if you're just around.asb12345 wrote:What is parking like in the city and campus?megs2015 wrote: The COL is really reasonable. Throughout the city it's pretty typical. Meters which are free on Sundays, limited free parking, and some paid lots.
Hope that helps!

To add to some of the other posts, living on or near campus will put you within walking distance of pretty much everything you need. As a student you will have access to the campus bus system which is a big plus. Parking is relatively easy to come by - though the campus system was sold to a private company after I graduated, so I can't speak to that. Really the area is pleasant, easy to navigate, and should fit easily in a student budget.

Not me. I just received an official acceptance letter in the mail with a handwritten personal note on the bottom. Although the letter did say I should be receiving more mailings in the weeks to come.hbaker712 wrote:To add to some of the other posts, living on or near campus will put you within walking distance of pretty much everything you need. On your off topic, is city parking and campus parking easy to find during mid day and rush hour times?

City parking isn't too bad at any time. You're going to find a fair amount of meters (you may just have to walk a block extra) and lots the majority of the time. I can't honestly think of a time when I wasn't able to find parking within a reasonable distance from my destination.asb12345 wrote:Not me. In terms of campus parking, that will be hit and miss. Primarily this will be dependent on class schedules and student habits. The worst part for campus parking is that the easiest lots to find spaces in are the furthest from the law school. While that may seem annoying, the campus bus system does service those lots and will get you pretty much anywhere you need to go.
Finally, law school is a bit different than undergrad in terms of course schedule. You'll find that since you'll be in class much earlier than the typical undergrad, finding close parking will be much easier.
I hope that helps. For anyone else with questions about the city and campus, I'd be happy to help.

Received the viewbook. Very interesting read. I've been in review since 10/15, getting very anxious, OSU is one of my very top choices.hbaker712 wrote:To add to some of the other posts, living on or near campus will put you within walking distance of pretty much everything you need. So I was looking at last years thread and apparently OSU is notoriously slow for some reason.

Just received the admitted students guidebook. Anyone else receive that? What are your opinions of the statistics of employment?

Same. Go bucks!!! I'm just leaning towards this school more and more in general because of possible scholarships/strong family ties in Columbus.cuboxing25 wrote:if they win this I might have to go just for that natl champs t-shirt
