....No change or anything here. Just dropping by to say how much this complete silence SUCKS. The wait is killing me! Still hopeful for some response (hopefully positive!) soon! That is all.

I have been checking my application status on a daily (ok...maybe even hourly) basis. Not sure if this means anything, but earlier today (and every other time I have checked) my application status read "File is Complete." Now, the application status is gone. It simply says "Year: 2015, Program Type: Full Time, Degree: JD". Any idea what (if anything) this change means!?
This has just happened to me as of today (December 22nd)...hoping a letter is on it's way!

You'll know it's on the way when you have a status that says decisions aren't given by phone or email. It'll come by USPS (at least in state). Then it'll be time to get excited!0Lpat wrote:bluehose wrote:Hello prospective Gamecocks!

Just so y'all know, admin offices are closed starting tomorrow until Jan 2nd. If you don't hear in that interim, it's just because no one's there. Best of luck!

I just checked my status and for some reason it now says "File Incomplete." This is the first time it has said this. It also says to check requirements list to see what document(s) are missing. Then I look down and they are all checked off. Weird...

Hmmm... Try checking again, and make sure you check the law school's page of requirements (not just the ones listed through LSAC, though they should be the same). Are all of your LORs in? Are you waiting on a December LSAT score? If that doesn't clear it up, I'd call admissions once they open again in January. The office is quite helpful in figuring these things out.jepper wrote:I just checked my status and for some reason it now says "File Incomplete." This is the first time it has said this. Yeah I applied the first day apps were open with a June LSAT score. LORs have been in since I applied. Emailed admissions office about the second week of September making sure file was complete and that they weren't missing anything. Said everything was good to go. Tried to email them just now and got some auto-response saying they were out of the office.ayl wrote:Hmmm... 'Bout that time for everyone to scoot for the holidays. Definitely call or email back in January. They should be back in the office on the 2nd, and if not, we start classes again on the 7th so they'll surely be there. Perhaps it'll resolve itself before then too. Fingers crossed for you!jepper wrote:Tried to email them just now and got some auto-response saying they were out of the office.

I'm pretty sure my application said the same thing, but I wasn't missing anything. Sometimes the status is just placed incorrectly for a moment.jepper wrote:Yeah I applied the first day apps were open with a June LSAT score. LORs have been in since I applied. Did you list a future LSAT date in your application? That is what caused that for me at UOU, GW, and W&M.jepper wrote:I just checked my status and for some reason it now says "File Incomplete." I want to second what AYL says. I know I got help from others when I was making my decision, and I would be happy to help others. I know you all will have a million things running through your head so remember there aren't any dumb questions, and if you are too worried about asking in public send one of us a PM and we will do what we can to answer the questions.ayl wrote:How cool! Should we expect USC to create a Facebook page for students who plan to attend? And, when did the previous years' pages go up? Just looking forward to meeting some of the people.

Nope! I ended up creating ours, but I'm not sure when I did it. All I did was copy/paste the previous year's page.Wolfman wrote:Should we expect USC to create a Facebook page for students who plan to attend? And, when did the previous years' pages go up? If you want to do the same, just search "University of South Carolina School of Law Class of 2017," and it should pop up. Just be aware that you'll have to a fair amount of spam blocking initially, so be prepared to creep on people's pages just to see if they're even human, e.g. they've had an account longer than a year, no pictures of scantily clad women, no posts about selling things, probably have a page in English. It's amazing how many robots are out there haha
Are you planning on going to the Admitted Students Day? Or are you from SC? ASD is a good way to meet a huge number of your classmates, and I know that they'll probably have some small meet-and-greets by local alumni groups in the larger metro areas of SC soon. Those will have alumni (obviously), some professors, some admin, some of your classmates, and some who have yet to decide (or even get in). Another good way to meet people prior to classes is the Kick Start program. It's a week of mock classes and academic success advice in August, and I can't really say if it helped me at all academically, but I really did feel far calmer going into my first class than if I had just come in and plopped down on my first day.
Edit: just checked my post history; I started the facebook class page in mid-April.

I highly recommend ASD. And as AYL said, they had to create the Facebook page, we were the first two to be on the page if I remember right. The thing that helped me the most was visiting schools and talking to the current students. Current students know better than most what you are going through since we were just in your shoes a year ago.

Great, Thanks. If no one has created one by Feb I will probably bite the bullet. I live in Knoxville so I plan on attending ASD. Also, I need all the info I can get on housing. I am hoping to rent a house (doesnt have to be walking distance) near the school. Any good areas or street names I should look into?

Re: University of South Carolina Law Class of 2018
Hmmm. I believe the Rosewood area is really good for houses, but inside certain streets (which ones I'm not confident on) . I'd get in touch with Megan Seiner or Michelle Hardy (both can be found on the law website). Michelle really helped me out in looking for a place, and I ended up in a condo in Senate Plaza. There are a handful of us who live there -- it's prime location (I walk to and from classes everyday, and the new law school will literally be across the street), and really pretty quiet. I have a friend who is in a house in the Elmwood area, and she really likes it. Either way, check out the housing website here for some more info, especially during the summer: http://law.sc.edu/admissions/admitted/housing.shtml.Wolfman wrote:Great, Thanks. I live in Rosewood. Also, my parents have a couple houses they rent out in Rosewood and surrounding areas. PM if you want some details.

Sooo just trying to get a sense of what is going on here.. My status changed to "decision mailed". This was on 1/5. I still have not received anything. Does anyone else who has received their acceptance know how long this should take? I live literally 5 minutes away from campus..

Did you have different addresses (current and permanent)? Shouldn't take that long. I was living in Charleston when I received my acceptance and got it within a few days. I'd say if it's not an address issue and not in by the end of the week, I'd call and confirm with them that they sent it to the right place.jepper wrote:Sooo just trying to get a sense of what is going on here.. My status changed to "decision mailed" on December 22nd, and I received the letter in the mail on the 24th. If you haven't gotten your letter yet, I would say it went to a different address.
Also, I live in Knoxville.

Any idea when scholarship information will go out? It may have been in the acceptance letter, but I can't remember at the moment and am at work. Has anyone this year heard anything? Or, can any current students share an estimated timeline, if possible?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
