For those of you that have already had interviews and/or been accepted, when did you submit your application?

Awesome! That's a quick turnaround! I've been in review since the week before Christmas, at this point I'm just hoping for an interview.

For those who have been interviewed, did they send an email and set up a time or was it a cold call?

Application has been in since Jan. 8th, had my interview with Dean Sorensen the following week. It seemed to go well, though I still haven't heard anything...

I got an email, but my resume does say I work full time so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with them emailing me.TheWW wrote:I got a phone call asking to set up a time.Captaino15 wrote:For those who have been interviewed, did they send an email and set up a time or was it a cold call?

This confuses me. I've been told by multiple people that the "interview" is more of just the deans way to let you know you got in and tell you about the school.TheWW wrote:Application has been in since Jan. 8th, had my interview with Dean Sorensen the following week. Does your application status online just said "under review" still?

Yes, I found that odd, too. My interview did not go that way. It was an actual interview. However, she did say some favorable things to me regarding admission at the end, but nothing official.Marie1976 wrote:This confuses me. Did you send a follow up at all since then? Maybe just an emailing thanking her for meeting with you and letting her know how interested you are in the program? That's probably what I would do in your situation, but that's just me.TheWW wrote:Yes, I found that odd, too. My interview did not go that way. It was an actual interview. I interviewed a while ago and haven't heard anything since. Did anyone else interview and not receive notification of acceptance shortly after?

They called me the next day, but from what I was told by Dean Sorenson, they are trying to keep the wait list very short. They don't like to leave people in wait list limbo. So maybe if they are on the fence about whether to admit you or wait list you they just wait to tell you? Not sure, that would be my guess.TheWW wrote:Me. I also think they consider whether or not you are looking at other schools. I'm not, so they have some leeway in keeping me waiting...Marie1976 wrote:They called me the next day, but from what I was told by Dean Sorenson, they are trying to keep the wait list very short. Re: BYU (J. Reuben Clark) C/O 2018 Applicants
I have yet to get an interview. I have been 'under review' since mid-December. While my numbers are more towards their 25th percentiles, I thought that I would have heard something by now. Looking back at last years crowd on Lawschoolnumbers, it looks like BYU likes to take their sweet time. Does anyone have any advice that might help them look more favorably on my application before they decide to ding/waitlist me? I'm at BYU for undergrad so I could just walk over and talk to them, but I don't think that would help. I fear that it is just a waiting game now. Anyways, good luck to the rest of you!

Possible. But is that something you told them? I don't think it was ever discussed how many schools I was looking at or which were my top choices.TheWW wrote:I also think they consider whether or not you are looking at other schools. Ohhhh ok. Nothing like that came up in mine. She mostly just asked me what interested me in law and what I would like to do with my law degree type of thing.TheWW wrote:Dean Sorensen during my interview asked me what other schools I was applying to.Marie1976 wrote: Possible. For those of you who have been accepted, are any of you having trouble getting onto the Facebook page? Even with the link it says I don't have permission to get on.

I just had my interview with Dean Sorenson today. It seemed to go well but was relatively short. She only asked me a couple questions. She told me she would let me know her decision regarding my file within the week. Is there anyone who has interviewed that hasn't been admitted?

I think (be sure to correct me if I'm wrong) the consensus is that if you are interviewed, it is fairly likely that you will get in. I believe there were a couple people in last years thread that were interviewed and waitlisted. Would you mind PM'ing me your stats? I'm still waiting/hoping for an interview...

I just received a call from Dean Sorenson today. Looks like I'll be part of the class of 2018! I'm pretty excited.

Congrats! In response to your earlier post, I was interviewed back in January and still haven't heard anything.Agsmith wrote:I just received a call from Dean Sorenson today. Looks like I'll be part of the class of 2018! I'm pretty excited.
