I got an unsolicited one on 10/17. I took june and September but I got it before my september scores came out so I'm not sure which cycle it was for. 160/164/3.54hearsay77 wrote:for those who have gotten fee waivers, what are your stats? really hoping for one and haven't gotten it yet

Does anyone know what happens if you're denied ED? Does it just turn into RD?

Yes, the e-mail I received stated "Early Decision applicants who are not offered admission will either be denied or a decision will be deferred until later in the application cycle."cuboxing25 wrote:Does anyone know what happens if you're denied ED? Does it just turn into RD?

Yeah just email the admissions office, there's a template on TLS that offers the best way to do this but just kindly ask and offer your LSAC number, LSAT score, and GPA. The worst that happens is they say no.

Heres what I used for a fee waiver request:
To whom it may concern,
Hello my name is XXXXX and I am currently applying to XXXX Law School. I have a quick question – I was wondering if XXXXX offered merit-based application fee waivers, and if I would qualify for one? My information:
GPA: XXX
LSAT SCORE: XXX
LSAC ACCOUNT NUMBER: XXXXXXXXXXXXX
Thank you for you time.
Sincerely,
XXXXX

I solicited last week, 168/3.5, and they told me they only do it through CRS but I haven't gotten anything...very confused.cuboxing25 wrote:hearsay77 wrote:for those who have gotten fee waivers, what are your stats? really hoping for one and haven't gotten it yet

Kinda the same boat, I want to apply but not really worth it to me if they don't give me a waiver. Doesn't make sense because my stats got me multiple waivers from T14 and I'm positive yours did too.psychmusic wrote:I solicited with 173/3.94 and got the same response. Also got passed over in the crs waves so far. It's not wish the money to apply to me. I tried to press the financial aid/admissions reps for info on that, but all I got was that "we use 'pretty much' the same methods, standards, and expectations in assessing the ED students as we do the regular admissions."RaiderRed wrote:Anyone know last cycle's average ED stats?
It doesn't answer your question directly, but whether or not you consider what she said sincere (it probably wasn't) might impact how you would predict ED stats would go.
I have no idea what the actual ED stats from last year are, but I would love to know as well. I'm really hoping their drop in medians will cause them to be more accepting of anything above the median for the ED application.

That's what I'm hoping too. I've tried using LSN, but there's only like 15 people overall on that site who have marked ED to BU in the past 4 years. I know an article said they had like 1700 ED applicants last year.dontdoitkid wrote:I tried to press the financial aid/admissions reps for info on that, but all I got was that "we use 'pretty much' the same methods, standards, and expectations in assessing the ED students as we do the regular admissions."RaiderRed wrote:Anyone know last cycle's average ED stats?

Thanks to everyone for the solicitation advice, just got an email back saying they'll give me one. Definitely can't hurt to solicit one if you didn't get one automatically!

Love Boston, so very excited about BU. I solicited fee waiver.
Quick question, did people do the optional essay? And if so, do you think this is considered strictly a diversity statement?

I didn't get a CRS waiver, 3.2/174, but they do grant solicited need-based waivers. So give that a shot if you think you might be poor enough but can't get the LSAC waiver.

Re: Boston University c/o 2018 (2014-2015)
Given the prompt I would say it's definitely a diversity statement. I think you could try and bend that in a way that you could write it, but if you're someone like me you might come off as a white male born and raised in New England trying to sneak in a "diversity" card, and I think that would hurt me more than help haha.smiles123 wrote:Love Boston, so very excited about BU. I did the optional essay to explain family medical and financial problems and the socio-economic issues that came with them, but that's just me.smiles123 wrote:Love Boston, so very excited about BU. I solicited fee waiver.
