I have a 3.96 GPA but a 153 LSAT. Should I hold off on applying after I retake the LSAT in December??

Someone earlier in the thread said they were retaking the lsat last month and they got in before they took the september LSAT. Can't hurt to apply - worst comes to worst they just wait until your December score comes out

Yeah but they had a 157. I'll try anyways. Do you know if Miami allows a GPA that is significantly higher than their 75% to make up for an LSAT that is slightly below their 25%?HavingFun wrote:harvardlaw8 wrote:I have a 3.96 GPA but a 153 LSAT. Reverse Splitters are too unpredictable to say for sure. I highly doubt they would ding you immediately if they see that you're signed up for the december test and are waiting for that score

Re: Miami Law c/o 2018 Applicants
Usually they use the gpa to supplement the LSAT. You're in a better situation if u have a higher lsat and lower gpa. I would just retake the test. A high lsat might offset a poor gpa but a high gpa won't really offset a poor LSAT.HavingFun wrote:harvardlaw8 wrote:Yeah but they had a 157. I'll try anyways. I think it will help. I am in the same situation as you. Just apply and if you don't get in before the december lsat, "appeal" and show them your new lsat. 100% sure you'll get in.harvardlaw8 wrote:Yeah but they had a 157. I'll try anyways. I just applied on Monday night and got my status check today. I am waiting on one more letter of rec and am registered for the December LSAT.

If you look on the first page, someone with a 157 got accepted before he retook in September because his stats were around their medians. My guess is you get in pretty soon.

No, they will come to a decision before that (especially with a 160/3.8 ). I heard back in three days and I had a lower GPA and LSAT than you so you're fine. Higher LSAT will definitely get you more scholarship money though.louisv123 wrote:I just applied on Monday night and got my status check today. Hi all. I will be applying this week. How much scholarship money I can expect with a 168 LSAT and 3.67 GPA?

Re: Miami Law c/o 2018 Applicants
Honestly, I don't know. UF is my undergrad (which I'm applying to as well, they just have a different kind of statement / essay so I couldn't use my personal statement). So I would probably go to UF over FSU just for that reason despite FSU being ranked higher. But it may be good for a change of pace, and FSU's hiring rates seem to be higher. I like the idea of a private school like Miami as well and I am from South Florida. But I am just not a Miami girl, lived there for a while and couldn't quite get into the swing of things. I think that may have been the least helpful answer in the world, but I am hoping to go out of state ideally.dmarieb wrote:I saw on your profile that you also applied to FSU. Do you know what you're going to do if you get into FSU and Miami? I'm applying to both, as well. (Don't know if there is a forum like this for FSU yet, so thought I'd ask here.)louisv123 wrote:Me too!legallyrose wrote:Mine just went to the committe for review... Wish me luck!

I meant like "waiting to hear back/acceptances thread" for the 2 schools individually not a comparison thread.

I don't really understand the point of that, it's inevitably going to compare the two schools and the fact that it's being discussed here it's clear no one is really sure of where they will end up. But if you want it go ahead and make it haha

It was more to see who was getting in and when than comparing the two.
