The application says fees are waived for Teach for America (and Alumnus/Alumna), Peace Corps (and Alumnus/Alumna), military, those with LSAC fee waivers, and a few other things of that nature. But I would just email them, the worst they can do is say no.
ETA: That is if you have a LSAT score. I don't think they would consider it without hard stats.

Under Law School Interest in the application they ask this question: Are you applying, or have you applied to, other law schools? If so, please list them.
Anyone know how to deal with this? I don't love the idea of listing 10 other schools.

I put down all the other schools I am applying to (14). I think someone posted last cycle that it is just for internal statistical purposes.
ETA: And if the numbers in your profile are accurate they're especially not going to care when they offer you a Ruby.

It's not a required section, but I would probably just list them

I
believe I remember reading somewhere that this is optional? If not, I definitely remember they said it's mainly for statistical purposes--they won't hold it against you. I'm sure most of us will be listing in the neighborhood of 10, if that's a comfort.

Anyone else really excited about the parts of the app where you get to talk about your academic interests at the LS? I'm sort of nerdily giddy.

I opened up the application and it is indeed optional. Either way (whether you fill out or not), I don't think they will care. I'm leaning towards not filling out if only because I'm not sure about all the places I'm applying to yet.

The adcoms are not crazy. They know your numbers. They know you'll be applying to other schools. Personally, I put down, like, 5-8 schools last year. Be ready to articulate Why Chicago in your interview.

I wrote every school I was going to apply to. I also had a good "why Chicago" answer.

It's optional. I never filled it out. There's no good reason to--it can't possibly help you, so just skip it.

Under the resume section, it lists hours spent on activity/job...My resume does not have those figures, as I have not seen it asked before. Is the "hours spent" a common law school application resume practice? It kinda screws with my format/spacing, so I'm considering not putting it down...

I would find a way. But I totally forgot to do it in mine and I got admitted with a solid scholarship lol.

I don't think any other schools ask for it, but Chi does so you have to do it for them.

I just fiddled with my formatting and changed it for them. I will remove it for all others, though.

I didn't do this and it didn't matter. But you may as well follow the instructions.

I remember reading that UChicago uses hidden fee waivers...Did anyone flip through old threads and note the earliest those came out, per chance?

I think you're the first of us to submit! Congrats. If the numbers in your profile are correct you are going to have some awesome options after this cycle wraps up. Having started the app but not taken the LSAT yet it still feels forever away.

Are you guys planning on submitting a "why Chicago" as an optional addendum? The language of the optional addendum section seems to imply to me that they only want you to address weaknesses in your app, but maybe I'm getting the tone wrong.

I think it's maybe not the best wording, but I am definitely submitting a "Why Chicago" and if you have a good one, you should too.
I also adhere to the school of thought that it can't really hurt to tell a school all the reasons you specifically want to go there, as long as it comes across as genuine.

Also, there's an optional section on the app that asks to "list honors." What are you all doing there? If honors are already on our resume, does that section not apply?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
