GULC and GW are obvious reaches and UF probably is too. I'd like to stay in Florida but I'm willing to relocate to Georgia if Mercer offers a big enough scholly and I've always wanted to study in DC, GULC and GW are the only solid options there but I doubt I get in. As of now, FSU is top choice as I'd get in-state tuition and they place amazingly well in the public sector which is where I want to end up. My gpa there is above their 75th percentile by a tenth and my LSAT is below their 25th percentile by 3 points but applications are down again this year and I do have solid softs working in government so I hope that gives me a boost. Miami was top choice but didn't want to toss any $$$ my way after I got the scholarship offers from Nova and St. Thomas.

Interesting observation...

Maybe it's because there are fewer elite schools in the region, so applicants who want to live here are willing to settle for lower scores and one of the many solid regionals?

That's probably a reasonable assessment AT9. I think the quality of the regionals down here make it easier to want to stay as well.

What exactly defines a reverse-splitter? I see a ton of threads and statistics on how "reverse splitters" are viewed by various law schools but haven't really found a definition of who qualifies.

I'm a 170, 3.97 fyi which puts me below 50th percentile LSAT at a lot of my schools and above 75th percentile GPA.

I believe it is below 25th LSAT (but I could be wrong). I would not count you as a reverse splitter, congrats on both great numbers!

Yeah those are great numbers, you have a good shot at YHS. anyways, a reverse splitter is above 75th gpa and at/below 25th LSAT

I've always thought of a splitter, of either sort, as someone who has one fairly high number and a mediocre/low number (say, 3.8+ and under 165/166 for reverse splitters, maybe something like 165/166+ and under 3.4 or something for splitters). Of course it depends on the school, but I don't think anyone with 3.8+ and a 167/168+ can count as any sort of splitter. You just fall into the stellar applicant pool lol.

I personally define the term by the specific schools. Aka I'm a reverse splitter at t14 but not at others. That isn't the official way to go about it though.

For HY, a 3.97/170 could be considered a reverse splitter per this definition: Above 75th GPA, at or below (at) 25th LSAT.

With that said, almost everyone on LSN in the last two cycles with 3.95+/170 has been admitted to H. So, grain of salt. These are great numbers.

I would just like to say that this board is awesome. It is hard to find people on TLS with low numbers and some 170+ scorers don't understand that retake is not as easy as it seems. Factors like work, school, and just general frustration from scoring low make it hard for people in the 150s- low 160s to want to study for months on end for a retake. I will most likely retake in June, but I can't stand the thought of it. Can I get a "+1?"

Never was big on Case, and I heard some bad things overall about the school and the Dean that turned me off.

168 was my first, so I have both retakes left. I'm torn between depositing at the best school I get into --> retaking in June for $$ -OR- full on sitting out a cycle, which would be painful. Retaking either way.
