I was admitted last week and received a $34k/year scholarship. Really torn, though, bc I also got into NYU last week. Should I stay here in Portland and live debt-free or go after the prestige? I want to do public interest law, so NYU would be hard to turn down. I'll be mulling this over for the next couple of months...

Is this on your status checker? I don't think there is a secondary review process, i think you are just waiting on their email with the final decision.
My status checker has not been updated with a decision. Still has application complete and was last updated in december. I received an email today stating that the review of my app has been complete, but no decision has been made yet and will keep it under consideration. Once they have an idea of how many seats will be available they will let me know. Told me to expect a decision in April or May.
That sounds like a waitlist.

That's what I thought too but they said if I wasn't admitted in April/may THEN I would be placed on the waitlist. Weird wording, not sure why they do it like that.

Thank you to whoever asked whether scholarships were included in admissions packets or not. I didn't look at my materials very carefully, and scholly info was just sitting there, innocuously, two weeks later.

In my mind's eye you've been losing sleep over not knowing what your scholarship was for the last two weeks.

Also, evidently I think about you. So, there's that consolation at least.

If someone calls me, I expect it to be about a credit card or roadside assistance, not a $250k decision!

I'm in with 34k/yr but somehow missed the priority deadline for financial aid =/ Submitted my FAFSA today. Anyone know how this will impact grants/loans?

I know I probably won't get grants with the scholarship I got, but not getting good federal loans would be a bummer. In at a few others in the NW and waiting on Berkeley, but L&C is at the top of my list due to Portland connections if it ends up looking the best $$-wise.

I would be surprised if it affected you at all with respect to loans.

$34k is a good scholarship, but you are going to be on the hook for ~$10k with books and fees plus CoL unless those Portland ties can help out.

Yeah I figured this means 40-50k in debt probably for the 3 years, 21k left in tuition (7k per year) + living expenses. I don't have a dad at a firm or anything like that, but I work for an elected official who is an attorney and have met a lot of lawyers and LC Law alums who are willing to help me out, so I think this is worth it.

Definitely will wait on other schools before I decide though. Got into UW late last week, no word on $$ yet.
