Accepted for part-time.
App submitted 2/14/14. Complete 3/4/14 (they waited on my Feb LSAT without me requesting it - I just wanted to submit before the 2/15 deadline). Accepted 3/13/14. No word on scholarships, but don't really expect to as a part-time student. Still waiting on UH to decide though.
3.71 degree GPA / 3.13 cumulative GPA (had a lot of fun the first time I went to undergrad - got kicked out of UT-Austin with a 0.79 GPA back in the early 90s) / 161 LSAT / Non-traditional student

Houston area admitted student reception email. Is this going to everyone in the area or is this a good sign?

I just got an email invite for the Admitted Students reception too. I thought it was a little strange since I have not received an official admission. I called admissions and they said, "Sorry it was sent to everyone instead of just admitted. Take Care."

Yeah .... I got that one too. I find it kind of funny. Reminds me of when Baylor sent out a hundred or so false acceptance letters in the mail......then had to break the bad news. That would have sucked on both ends of the phone.

I emailed them too assuming it was a mistake, but hoped to use it to twist them a little to see if I could get a decision. No luck, they sent out a retraction shortly after they responded to my email saying it was a mistake. oh well, worth a try!

Nothing yet. I wrote about a week ago and they said they would be releasing them in one to two weeks. According to LSN, several have already been awarded.the_dude83 wrote:scholly?CLhouston wrote:Admitted via email! Submitted my app 1/29

Congrats to all who have gotten admitted to date! I can imagine the relief. I am still waiting to hear back. My question is, has anyone gotten a rejection letter yet?

I got a scholarship offer within a few days to a week of my acceptance letter. That was towards the beginning of this month. I'm a part-time applicant.

Thank you. I was shocked to have gotten it since I know FT generally gets scholarships. It had made my decision harder since I really want to go to UH for their environmental law program (I've worked in environmental for over 10 years), but STCL's scholarship is awfully tempting.the_dude83 wrote:Bravo! LSAT 161
Cumulative GPA 3.13 (had a really good time in Austin back in the 90s - left UT Austin with a 0.79 GPA in Psychology)
Degree GPA 3.73 (went back 10 years later for a Chemical Engineering degree)
I think my softs though are relatively strong. Significant GPA improvement in a harder major going full time while working and as a single parent. Personal obstacle: parent of a teenage addict. Scheduled to get my black belt this year (lawyers I talked to said to include this in my app though I don't see a relevance). Work experience as an environmental engineer for over 10 years (non-traditional student). Half Asian and 1/8 Native American - I did check the ethnicity boxes, but I didn't mark my app as a URM since Asians aren't underrepresented and I'd have a hard time proving my Native American ancestry since I'm not close to the American side of my family.

Accepted today! I went complete about 2 weeks ago, received the email snafu last week, and finally got my acceptance today. Now to hold off and wait for scholarship money, if any....I would really need some good money to attend South Texas after receiving good scholly offers elsewhere. I'd love to attend this school since it has a great market in Houston so I'll have to wait and see...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
