Re: Louisiana Law Schools
Tulane's still just says "file complete." Nothing from LSU yet, and Loyola says "under review."

Just got an email telling me I'm in at LSU. It also had scholarship info with a packet to be mailed.

Hey guys, I'm a Louisiana resident and I just got my scores back on the December test. 162 with a 3.1 GPA, any thoughts? I figure I'm going to apply at LSU, Southern and Loyola and see what happens. Any advice?

I got into LSU by e-mail (with an awesome scholarship) right before Christmas - nothing in the mail yet though.

Do not go to Southern unless you want to be something other than a lawyer.Al-Fakruun wrote:Hey guys, I'm a Louisiana resident and I just got my scores back on the December test. 162 with a 3.1 GPA, any thoughts? Why does LSU have better employment numbers than Tulane (which is the higher ranked of the two)?

LSU is the flagship law school with loyal alums. A lot of people that attend Tulane come from out of state and think it has national appeal (which it may have years ago, but doesn't really seem to be true now unless you're at the very top). Tulane is a classic trap school to me.
If you want to work in Louisiana, all things equal, I don't think you could go wrong either way if you are from LA. I may say Tulane only if you have a really strong preference for working in New Orleans.

Ahh, I see. Thank you! I am an out-of-towner, and I am looking for law schools with good employment numbers. LSU has caught my eye because I may qualify for a full-ride and I really don't want to take on much debt. It was just curious to see Tulane ranked so much higher but have worse employment numbers. Loyal alumns makes sense.
