Re: Boston College C/O 2017 Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
checking in. applied 11/27.
3.19 and 159. obviously a longshot but i'm hoping a strong resume (worked in law for 2+ years) and great recommendations help me out.
though w/o significant financial aid i don't know if i could justify going should i get lucky.

I ended up having to call for mine and it was just a mistake - if it's been 2 weeks I think it's reasonable to call.Attax wrote:Applied... still waiting for a status checker :/

Checking in. It also took me a week to get my status checker, too-- so I wouldn't worry just yet!

Considering what I have been hearing about this application cycle, (low number of applicants, lowering medians, etc) do you guys think it would be worth it to throw in an app at BC with a 3.57 158? Minority but not URM. I had basically convinced myself earlier that it wasn't worth it, but now idk.

You won't get a dollar in merit aid most likely-not that you don't have merit! If you think BC's median career prospects make sense at 60-odd-thousand per year, then sure.
Then again, there's probably a better chance than ever before of a pleasant surprise.

Sent it. I also think it's worth noting that they told me I could use my Oct score for admission purposes if I wanted to, despite taking again in December. In other words, they wouldn't have to hold it.

To be perfectly honest with you, I don't think your chances are good with that LSAT score. Yes, schools are desperate for applicants. But above all, they are desperate for applicants within their target LSAT/GPA range. You are currently 6 points below their median LSAT. Schools that you may get into this cycle but perhaps not in previous cycles due to decreasing law schools applications are schools that you're currently about 1 (maybe 2) points below the median LSAT. With another 4-5 points though, BC could definitely be an option for you.sosa wrote:Considering what I have been hearing about this application cycle, (low number of applicants, lowering medians, etc) do you guys think it would be worth it to throw in an app at BC with a 3.57 158? Just now: "A decision has been made on your application to Boston College Law School by the Admissions Committee. A decision letter will be mailed via U.S. Postal Service within 3 days from the Decision Status Date and will be sent to your CURRENT address. If a decision is made before January 11, 2013, the Decision letter was mailed to your permanent address. "

Did your status ever change to under review? Or did it go from complete to decision rendered?

I went under review yesterday afternoon (I was complete at noon but then UR when I checked again at 4pm). Decision rendered this morning when I woke up.....so if you didn't see UR there's a good chance you just missed it.ohpobrecito wrote:Did your status ever change to under review?
