I'm in too! Turnaround was super fast. I think I went under review last Friday and accepted on Monday.

Anyone get the super cool bag? Very nice touch, and a nice packet as well.

Got mine today. The bag was definitely a unique idea. Another nice note from the Dean. Several deans have mentioned how much they liked my personal statement in the notes which is cool.Winston1984 wrote:Anyone get the super cool bag? Very nice touch, and a nice packet as well.
I've been awarded the Dean's Honor Scholarship. The letter makes it sound special. Does anyone know about it?

Where do you live? I'm looking at 2 bedroom duplexes as close to the school as I can get.togepi wrote:Current 1L at Tulane if you guys have any questions. I'll try my best to answer any questions you have about the school, classes, the area, etc.
I've got a wife and 2 kids. How many student's would you guess have families?
I want to take part in the normal law school student activities like law review on occasion but I'm more family oriented. Do you think this will affect how well I fit in? I don't think it would be a problem but I don't know. I'm a normal sociable person.
Do you know how hard it is to get on the journals? Is law review write-on or grades or both? What about the other journals?

Hey! I'm not currently in law school at Tulane, but I have lived in New Orleans for my entire life. To find a good place uptown and near Tulane's campus, I would definitely try and visit the city. There are streets that are okay to live on in some blocks and not in others. It really just depends on the street. I would be more than happy to give you some guidance if you would like.
As far as the families part goes, I don't really see it being a huge issue. Areas like Metairie have more families and you might be more comfortable in these areas. Although it's a little bit farther from campus, I think it might be beneficial to the overall picture.
If you need any help or suggestions on where to live, let me know!

Do you know where the gym is in relation to the law school?
Is the meal plan a good deal? Is the dining hall close to the law school?

The gym is about 1/4 of a mile from the law school itself. I attended Tulane for some summer classes for undergrad and the food was pretty good. You can use the meal plan on both Tulane and Loyola's campus I believe.

Did y'alls actually say "Under Review" under status or just "File Complete" but the blurb at the top that says this: "Your file has been placed into review and is actively being read by members of the Admissions Committee. You will receive an e-mail from our office indicating as soon as a decision has been reached. No additional information is required from you at this point in time, but you may certainly e-mail us any updates as warranted. Decisions are sent as they are received, beginning in December." ?

Applied mid-November. I have the in-review status message. Updated yesterday and it now says no more decisions until Jan 7.

Sorry, JUST finished finals on Thursday and took a few days off. The area is pretty hit or miss. You really need to personally check out the place you're renting because it can go from safe and quiet to sketchy pretty fast. But generally, many places around campus are fairly safe. I live really close to campus, and I haven't felt unsafe yet.TheJanitor6203 wrote:How safe is that area of town?togepi wrote:Current 1L at Tulane if you guys have any questions. As for the family thing, I can only think of a few people that are married, but no one with a family off the top of my head. As for socializing, you should probably roll Han Solo to the first few events just to get to know everyone. Things can get pretty "clicky" very fast. But I suggest going to all the events for free booze and meeting your classmates you'll see everyday for the next three years.
There's a few write-on spots for law review I believe, but we were told top 8% gets you in.
As far as the gym is concerned, it's probably only a five minute walk tops. The campus is fairly small and the law building was kind of a let down but it's pretty nice.

Has anybody been waiting almost a month for their official acceptance package? I was accepted via email on 12/9, but nothing yet. Texas isn't that far from Louisiana...

Waitlisted. Probably going to withdraw as I've already been accepted to schools I'd rather go to.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
