One thing I'll throw out - if you guys think you may qualify for need-based aid, have all of your materials together to apply as early as possible. I think it shows some level of seriousness about attending, plus you're first in line for it if you get in. While GU isn't known for dishing out big schollies, I think they surprised a decent # of people last year with generous combos of merit/need-based aid.

Nope - a little sunk cost time-wise. GU requires you to fill out the Need Access forms, but other schools may require that anyway, and it really doesn't take that long, so I say go for it.

Another thing to add, although you guys have a lot of time to do this, you may check out the PI Fellows program, which requires an application. I didn't get around to doing this until late in the game, and had to scramble for a rec. letter, so maybe something to make a note of.

Finally a GeorgeTTTTown '17 thread! My app is in and I have my dreaded group interview next week. Any tips? Reading through old threads, it looks like they ask you to read fake applicant files and pretend you're the adcom. Is there a generic interview Q & A too or just the role playing?

Dek88: The interview is, according to many reports, largely an opportunity for Dean Cornblatt to market Georgetown Law to applicants. In the typical session, Cornblatt asks those present to simulate the role of an Admissions Committee, and each person has the elective opportunity to comment. Evidently Cornblatt maintains some sort of record of whom says what, but I doubt the group interview has much bearing on the admissions determination. That said, participating in the interview can only improve your admissions prospects--assuming you're reasonably articulate and incisive.

You will be meeting with Dean of Admissions Andrew Cornblatt in a room that is within a large law firms office that gave him enough time to do two half an hour sessions.
You will be in a group ranging in size between 8 and 16 people, all just like you. From my own experience, Dean Cornblatt was a warm man and the experience was not nearly as dreadful as I imagined it would be.

My experience was divided into two parts, each taking 15 minutes or so.

Dean Cornblatt split the group into smaller groups of 4 or so and gave us a hypothetical that included being in a law school admissions department and figuring out how you would shape your next potential class, then we would return to the table and he would ask each group to present what they came up with.

Dean Cornblatt then brought us back into the larger group and presented us with hypothetical applicants that had various problems, like C&F issues, and he called on us individually to speak on whether or not we would admit them and why.

As others have said, you basically pretend to be an admissions officer the entire time, which was kind of fun. It was a great group of people, so I'm crossing my fingers!

You won't hear anything back until there is a final decision on your application. It will vary from person to person, especially since the interview is only one element of the whole decision. Last year, I knew people who got a decision just a couple weeks after their interview and people who didn't hear anything for 4 or 5 months.

No. I got in with a large merit aid scholarship last cycle with only a February LSAT.
