I'm interested in tax law (step-mom and uncle are accountants/CPAs, always liked the field), and I've read they have a strong tax law program. I noticed it's only for an LL.M, and not much in terms of clinics/programs/certificate for JD.
Basic question, should I mention that I'm aiming for tax law (in my Why UF?), and furthermore, that I'm interested in the LL.M? Or not bother?

To answer the Academic Admissions Essay question, if you have any classes that required significant writing (grant writing, research project, thesis), it'll work.

I agree, same here...it's ridiculous for a school no where near a T14

I agree. It's dumb, but it wasn't that bad. Just write about how your academic background makes you a good candidate for law school or something and I bet you're good to go. Like with 90% of law schools, it probably has no impact if you're at or above the medians. If you're below, the impact is probably very small.vicpin5190 wrote:The academic statement wasn't that bad....
Though, combined with their no merit based fee waiver policy, I can see how this would dissuade people who are only marginally interested in applying. UF isn't doing itself any favors in that area.

Bump.
Right on. They are not attracted to those who are not listing them as top choice AT ALL.
I say they took themselves too seriously...
Btw. FSU doesn't give out fee waiver either.

You mean LSAC fee waiver ? I don't see flexibility on their website looks like they don't offer fee waiver themselves..?Ahamilton wrote:This is not true. FSU gives out fee waivers.kobe1020 wrote:Bump.

I was able to solicit a merit based waiver from them. I don't know if they send out rounds of unsolicited waivers like a lot of other schools, however.kobe1020 wrote:You mean LSAC fee waiver ? Yeah mine has been on Under Initial Review by Committee since Nov. 1st. Hoping some movement comes soon!

Retake. Don't waste the GPA on a 158, especially with numbers dropping across the board at many schools.seminole1991 wrote:No movement in mine either. I did not submit my application until Nov 6th though.
158/3.74. Awful, I know. Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. I have FSU, Miami, and Stetson as safety nets.
Best of luck to everyone!

Re: UF C/O 2017 (2013-2014 APPLICANTS)
I looked it up on the website and I think I got that status because I had a late recommendation letter sent in that they just received. I shouldn't have anything to worry about. 163/3.5. So hopefully decisions come soon.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
