Well the T20/T30 has always been an area of applicant overlap. You have the top applicants who are applying as safety then the lower applicants who are applying as reach. So there's that. But WUSTL is just so much more generous than all of its peers in terms of merit aid that it becomes a strategically important school to people as far as negotiating with other schools, even if they're not particularly interested in WUSTL.

Also, because it's unusually generous, it forms the center of the "T14 @ sticker or T20/30 for cheap" debate. Then you have the discussion about how portable a WUSTL degree is since the other T20's are all fairly regional, with the exception of Vanderbilt.

Checking in. One of my top choices given their precedence handing out scholarship money. Can't bank on it, but I am indeed hoping to get at least some money.

How do current students find the city of St. Louis? I'm in New York so it will be a huge difference, one that I actually want simply for the low cost of living but I know I'm trading the convenience of big city for the lack of convenience in small city.

Also its splitter friendliness! 8)

I haven't explored the LSAC site much since registering for the test. Is it somewhat like the common app from UG? How will the WUSTL website access our LSAT score(s) and LORs?

Schools are generally taking longer and longer to distribute decisions because they wanna wait and review as many applications as possible. I was admitted to WashU twice and both times they didn't release initial decisions until December/January. Just turn in the strongest application you have when it's ready. If it's ready now and you have no plans to re-take LSAT, then submit it. If you're planning on re-taking LSAT (this goes for any school) then submit your application and email them informing them you're taking the LSAT in October/December and ask them to wait for your score.

Most schools won't start releasing decisions until they see the December LSAT scores anyway though. Unless you did ED or something

Solicited a fee waiver the other day, so checking in. How reverse-splitter friendly (or unfriendly) is WUSTL? I'm at 163 right now and a little above 75th for GPA.

I toured WUSTL in high school and was super impressed. Beautiful campus, beautiful area of the city. Would be a cool place to live for a few years.

my friend here had 163/3.7 and got in with 45k, negotiated up to 66k. But there are also kids here with 163/3.4 who got admitted off the waitlist and are paying sticker. It's not especially hard to get in as a reverse-splitter, depending on your specific numbers obviously, but you will probably get less scholarship money than splitters

Cool, thanks. Hopefully my GPA and the dropping median trend overall will help.

For those of you who have applied; your application was done solely on the WUSTL website, not through LSAC? How does WUSTL get your transcripts/LSAT score/letters of recommendation? Do you pay the $25 LSAC fee for any of it?

yes. they ask you to email a personal statement and resume directly to them and request a CAS report from LSAC that you have to pay for (i think the $25). Haven't done it yet because I'm waiting for the October retake, but should be all.

Yeah, you should get a little alert on your LSAC page where it tells you a school has requested your CAS. From there you can pay the $25.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
