Ithaca looks 180.

Honestly it's amazing. My grandparents used to own a lake house on the otherwise of Lake Cayuga and you would not believe how beautiful this place gets during the Fall and Spring. Yes, winter may be a bit harsh if you are not acclimated to snow and wind chill factors, but there is just so much natural beauty around there. Also, Ithaca is consistently rated as one of the most diverse cities in America, albeit extremely liberal and new agey.

Ok, so I just noticed that Cornell posted this cycle's viewbook on the website. Some of you should be receiving a hard copy in the mail in a few weeks, and many of those will include fee waivers.

The important thing to note is on page 59. It lists the deadline for ED round 2 apps as January 6th.

It also longer lists the deadline for Early Action like last year's did. So I think they may be eliminating the EA option. This means that the timeline for decisions will likely be different from last cycle. They may still be quick to hand out initial decisions, but I'm not sure if they'll be explicitly deferring people who applied early like they used to.

Wait so if a person were to apply ED on August 15th and was signed up for the October LSAT, would Cornell not make that person's app complete until they received the October score or would they simply make the file "complete" but still hold out for the October score???

I have a strong suspicion that this will happen to me and would defeat the purpose of applying ED in my case.

I'm not sure whether they would mark it complete or not. I think they do mark it complete and then hold out for the new score, since there's a question in the app which asks which dates you're planning to take the LSAT.

I wouldn't ED without knowing your October score first though.

I don't think it makes much of a difference. Since this is your first test, you may want to wait and see what your score is before applying.

I'm a AA male with a 3.92 and 100% I want to attend Cornell and would rather submit my app. before I take the test. However, I would love advice or additional information about the whole process and/or your experiences at Cornell?

The advice to wait for your test score is in regards to when people are EDing. It would be silly to ED without your score, like if you had your GPA and got a 176, you would regret EDing.

But, in any case, by EDing you have a large potential to reduce scholarship $$. Honestly, if I were you, I would focus hard on killing the oct LSAT and putting in an RD app. That, however, is just my opinion. Whatever you end up deciding, good luck to you!

Agreed with this. Even if your LSAT is lower than expected, you may want to retake in December instead of EDing. Just look at Wormfather's cycle. AA male with a 3.9 GPA, got a 158 in June and a 162 in October. But he didn't stop there. He retook again in December, got a 170 and will be attending Harvard.

Lol, thanks. Yeah, after I overthrew the original first poster, I went to town with that OP.

They posted the online application for Hughes in the facebook group sometime in February or March I think. But then it goes by when you submit your deposit. Because I had and earlier deadline than everyone else (because of the scholarship), I easily got a room assigned in mid-April. Hughes filled up quickly this year though. I think it was initially filled up by late April, right after the first deposit deadline. But spots kept opening as people withdrew, so should be able to get a spot if you submitted the housing application early and you wait long enough.

Cool.

Just going to jump in here and say that Dean Geiger doesn't really care about targeted personal statements, so I would advise just making your regular PS as strong as possible.

As for the Why Cornell, we just had this discussion in the taking questions thread. Basically, you can write a why Cornell, but there should also be a question in the app you can use instead.
