Visited HLS this weekend and it sealed the deal for me. I'm out. Good luck to everyone here.

Judging by last year's waitlist thread, it might be a few weeks before they send out waitlist confirmations.

Agreed. They'll settle their class first after 1 May, then they'll compose the formal WL, then they'll let us know/hopefully have a few spots in the class they need to fill.levin892 wrote:Judging by last year's waitlist thread, it might be a few weeks before they send out waitlist confirmations.

I know at least two people who are going to HLS over YLS. They admitted 231 students and have a target of 200 for the incoming class.callmemaybe84 wrote:Agreed. A lot of people I know are still on the fence about their decision.

facebook group count dropped from 220 to 217, haha, I'm guessing that's the three right there? First time I saw the fb count go down.edamame wrote:Make that three people.

Actually, the three people I know are still in the Facebook group, but I'm not sure why.pacifica wrote:facebook group count dropped from 220 to 217, haha, I'm guessing that's the three right there? First time I saw the fb count go down.edamame wrote:Make that three people.
Current Facebook count is 216. So I guess seven people declined YLS's offer so far?

Whoops, I didn't realize you could leave Facebook groups. I guess that would help everyone here get a better idea of potential WL movement?edamame wrote:Current Facebook count is 216. So I guess seven people declined YLS's offer so far?

Just received my waitlist confirmation. Wonder when they'll start pulling people off the waitlist.

Hi,
Just trying to understand the Yale waitlist confirmation email.
Are we supposed to apply for financial aid before being accepted off the waitlist? Seems to say that but that can't be true.
Input?

You should have had the option to include Yale as one of the schools when filling out your Need Access form. Assuming you did so, then they'll have you on file and will be able to give you an estimated financial aid award if you're accepted.

Not at all -- Asha wants you to accept / decline ASAP, and a financial aid award would only expedite the process.ten177 wrote:Thanks. So I'll go and do that, I hope they won't think its presumptious of me, haha.

Yep, I applied when I applied to SLS's fin aid. Exact same process, if I recall.edamame wrote:Not at all -- Asha wants you to accept / decline ASAP, and a financial aid award would only expedite the process.ten177 wrote:Thanks. No waitlist confirmation yet for me, sent it the first day I got waitlisted too. Anyone else in the same boat?

Is the following reasoning fallacious?
Yale Law School admits around 250 students each year for J.D. candidacy.
On the other hand, Yale selects less than 250 students for its wait list.
Therefore, Yale's selectivity for whom it places on its wait list is greater than Yale's selectivity for whom it admits.
Therefore, from a competitive standpoint, it is a greater accomplishment to be placed on Yale's wait list than to be admitted to Yale.
Hah.

More people tie for first place than those who tie for second place.LexLeon wrote:Is the following reasoning fallacious?

For a LOCI, are people doing snail mail or email?

I did email, with the LOCI in the body of the email. I also attached my LOCI to the email as a .pdf just to make it easier to print out.

Someone was just added to the facebook group. I don't know whether she decided to join the group late, or whether she was taken off the waitlist. Not sure if it matters, but Sue added her whereas everyone else has been added by Craig. Hope for the waitlist, perhaps?
