I doubt there's a difference between waitlist and summer waitlist.

Called them. They didn't explain much except say something like "summer waiting list can extend all the until start of class".suzige wrote:I doubt there's a difference between waitlist and summer waitlist.
Not sure how that differentiates these two but I'm guessing waitlist > summer waitlist?
Also, no grants = no need based aid either. Not that any of us were expecting it.....

The summer waitlist email said that they have admitted "approximately 20-25% of the summer waitlist" in recent years. That seems like a pretty high number.senorhosh wrote: Not sure how that differentiates these two but I'm guessing waitlist > summer waitlist?

And some pple in the "waitlist" crowd were transferred over to the summer waitlist. I'd be surprised if they maintain two separate lists. What did the original waitlist letter say? Anybody not yet been transferred over to summer waitlist?luxurylawyer wrote:The summer waitlist email said that they have admitted "approximately 20-25% of the summer waitlist" in recent years. Also, I feel like it's going to be a case where many of us who were originally held were again held in the second round of holds in february.

At this point I am probably reading way too much into things but.... Does anyone think its odd the official northwestern class of 2016 Facebook page only has 125 members? With the 20% cut to the class size they will still probably take in about 200 students. I just would of thought there would be more than 125 signed up to the fb group.
I wonder how many spots are left to fill...

Just Accepted off of the hold list. Got an email saying "congratulations".
A day late and a dollar short. Northwestern has been my first choice from the beginning, but my offer came literally one day after I made a deposit at a higher ranked school when I was accepted off of their wait list

Have any people remained on the regular wait list? Are there different wait lists with different rankings? Does being placed on the summer wait list put me at a disadvantage?

Few questions for you: when did you apply? Did you write the Hold essays/LOCI etc? How long did they give you to make a decision?

Re: Northwestern Waitlisted c/o 2016
I applied in October. Was held on Feb 1st. I wrote no LOCI, only accessed the link that asked if you wished to be considered further, which I positively affirmed that I did. I did not write any essays or send any further LOCI. Mainly because I had already jumped through every hoop that they threw out there , including flying up for an interview from Texas. I also wrote all of the optional essay in my application. They never contacted me again and I assumed that I was out of the running since I did not write Johann's additional essays. When I got the email that said I was in , I just laughed. I had just paid my deposit at another T14 school higher ranked than NU after agonizing about abandoning #15( with half the tuition).

Re: Northwestern Waitlisted c/o 2016
According to LSN there are 81 people that are currently Waitlisted that have not withdrawn. Of course many of those could not be updated, but that's a lot more than I expected. Does anybody know when they usually start accepting people off the waitlist?

I'm sure with the drop of applicants, most schools will keep a larger-than-normal waitlist.helpplease wrote:According to LSN there are 81 people that are currently Waitlisted that have not withdrawn. Re: Northwestern Waitlisted c/o 2016
I agree. I think a lot of school aren't very sure how many ppl will matriculate eventually so they're keeping a lot more on reserve this year. Some schools do say that they will release people from the wait list throughout the summer as well. I wonder if NU will do the same.rambleon65 wrote:I'm sure with the drop of applicants, most schools will keep a larger-than-normal waitlist.helpplease wrote:According to LSN there are 81 people that are currently Waitlisted that have not withdrawn. Re: Northwestern Waitlisted c/o 2016
Is it appropriate to write a LOCI just saying NU is my top choice without having major updates to add? I've already written 2 LOCI, thinking of a 3rd but don't want to annoy the office with too much communication. They specifically said only to send an appropriate amount of communication too.. =(
Thoughts?

Re: Northwestern Waitlisted c/o 2016
So...spoke with Admissions today. Asked to remain on summer list after a small AJD snafu (some of you that were WL for AJD will know what I mean).
Anyway, she explained that the summer WL is essentially the same list, but they confirm whether folks who were on the "during the application cycle" list would like to remain on the list throughout the summer. I realized I was asking a sensitive question, and asked as delicately as possible for her to ballpark how many people were on the list. She explained that it was "several hundred" but that they were updating whether folks wanted to stay on or not, so it was moving downward every day, as many people had elected to attend other schools/not to remain on the list. And she also told me that the class, as it stood (not AJD--the whole class) was "full" and that they were "happy with where it stood", meaning that the only spots that open up between now and school start will be one-off dropouts.
As a wise man in Dumb & Dumber once said, "So you're saying there's a chance?"

Re: Northwestern Waitlisted c/o 2016
Yes, but of the people that are wait listed on LSN a lot of them haven't updates their status. I just went on LSN and randomly opened the first 5 wait list users' profiles. Of the 5, 4 have indicated that they will be attending another school. They just didn't bother to update their NU status to show that they withdrew. So I don't think we'll be able to tell how many ppl are on the wait list..bayarea510 wrote:helpplease wrote:According to LSN there are 81 people that are currently Waitlisted that have not withdrawn.
