^This is the main post for this year. If you go through the posts from the past few weeks, you'll see that a lot of people who got their initial decision got a w/l decision. Obviously there are some accepts and dings too. So if you're the 12%, you could still expect a accept. Depending on your numbers I'm guessing.
Also take a look at LSN

So what is everyone's plan for which school to deposit at/attend if need be as of right now while we are still on hold? Northwestern is my top choice hands down, and it is very disappointing to still be on hold this far into the cycle.

Leaning towards BC, since GW is being extremely stingy. Although still hoping my true love, Northwestern, comes through at the eleventh hour.suzige wrote:So what is everyone's plan for which school to deposit at/attend if need be as of right now while we are still on hold? What about the rest of you all?

I'm going to either go to WUSTL or retake/reapply next year and I keep going back and forth between those two optionssuzige wrote:So what is everyone's plan for which school to deposit at/attend if need be as of right now while we are still on hold? UM with 90K or WUSTL with 72K. Haven't decided yetsuzige wrote:So what is everyone's plan for which school to deposit at/attend if need be as of right now while we are still on hold? Northwestern is my top choice hands down, and it is very disappointing to still be on hold this far into the cycle.

Definitely hoping for NU though.

Care to expand a bit further as to why? I'm international so I have no idea if one city is better than the other. But they are ranked the same this year.. Why UM over WUSTL?nsideirish wrote:pammie0415 wrote:UM with 90K or WUSTL with 72K. I'm pretty sure you meant Minnesota and nsideirish thought you meant Michigan. That is a tough decision.pammie0415 wrote:Care to expand a bit further as to why? Re: Held at Northwestern 2016
It's close, but I'd say WUSTL. Minnesota is almost entirely regional, and while I love Minneapolis-St.Paul, it might not end up being the right fit for you, in which case you're stranded. WUSTL has only marginally better pull outside of St. Louis (emphasis on marginally), but at least the campus and law building is gorgeous.pammie0415 wrote:UM with 90K or WUSTL with 72K. Ahh I see. Yes, I mean Minnesota. Not Michigan. Sorry for the confusion. If I got into Michigan, I would definitely go there lol.suzige wrote:I'm pretty sure you meant Minnesota and nsideirish thought you meant Michigan. That is a tough decision.
I am currently leaning towards WUSTL. Though neither regions are exactly that appealing to me sigh.

Definitely thought you meant Michigan. My mistake.
In your case, I'd probably go with WUSTL....but yeah, it's a close call.

Honestly, I'd retake and re-apply. Take a look at the article below and see the giant jump that happens after MVPB range(note, I also think that Michigan and UVA are fudging their stats). Ultimately, it depends on your career goals and debt loads, but I'd say HYS + CCN + Berkeley/Penn/Northwestern/Duke or bust. The jobs stats from the rest just aren't good enough.

Re: Held at Northwestern 2016
Some people applied ED and were "held" over from ED (put in the RD pile) and many of those people have gotten decisions, so that might be where some confusion is coming from. I don't think any RD > hold people have heard back.pammie0415 wrote:I don't think so. Re: Held at Northwestern 2016
Yah I read that this morning too. I'm a splitter though. With a pretty awful UGPA and 4 years WE. So if I don't get into NU, I don't think retaking will help that much with my chances anywhere else. Definitely hoping NU will take me..DukeofCambridge wrote:Honestly, I'd retake and re-apply. UVA's stats should be taken with a grain of salt I think. The article even points out that UVA's low numbers is due to the fact that they employ or place their own grads. So in reality, UVA's numbers should be on par with that of it's similarly ranked schools.

Ugh this is torture. Glad we have a little therapy group here. I feel like I'm in limbo everywhere this cycle. Wait listed at Penn, UVA, Georgetown, and held at NU. Really tough not knowing if/when we'll hear.
If nothing changes, I'm looking at GW with 30K/three years (very small) or UT at sticker.

Is it bad that I get so excited every time I see someone post to the Northwestern thread about withdrawing...and secretly keep hoping for more withdrawals.

Re: Held at Northwestern 2016
I'm pretty much in the same boat. Wait listed at Penn, UVA, Georgetown too and held at NU. I would seriously trade all my wait list for just 1 admit (NU!!). Just to put me out of my misery already. If all else fails though, I'm probably heading to WUSTL..TorturedApplicant wrote:Ugh this is torture. Glad we have a little therapy group here. I feel like I'm in limbo everywhere this cycle.
