No, I didn't apply for the Woodruff. Replace WF with GSU and that's pretty much been my attitude.ramsdancer1 wrote:Yeah from what other people are saying it dosn't seem like they are giving out full rides. Did you apply for the Woodruff? That is supposed to be a full ride scholarship. I did get accepted today which is true to what they said yesterday about reviewing my application today. If I don't get a full ride I honestly wouldn't even consider going to Mercer. And even if I do get a full ride I still don't know that I would attend. To me Wake Forest with some money is more tempting than Mercer with a full ride.scruffy556 wrote:Doesn't seem like they are just tossing out full rides this year. I thought I would at least get more than less than half tuition a year. Still probably going to the little ASD thing because I like receptions though.

Yea Mercer doesn't have things figured out. No one is going to go there for more money than a higher ranked school. So I take it you already got accepted to GSU? I'm still waiting to hear back from them.scruffy556 wrote:No, I didn't apply for the Woodruff. Replace WF with GSU and that's pretty much been my attitude.

I was accepted to Mercer on 1/15. On 1/25 they sent me an e-mail offering me 18K a year in scholarships. I also applied for the Woodruff. I think that scholarship would be the only way for me to go to Mercer. I have already been accepted to GSC, so it just doesn't make sense otherwise. I talked to Mercer this week and the VP of admissions said they would be calling 12 people by the end of next week to interview for the Woodruff.

I applied for the Woodruff. I haven't recieved an e-mail about scholarships but I was accepted last week. I was told that if you get a regular scholarship and the Woodruff, you get both. If anyone hears anything about the Woodruff, let us know!

When the lady called me last week about preview day, I can't remember her name now, I asked her what would happen to my 18K if I got the Woodruff. She said any money that Mercer offers you goes away if you're offered the Woodruff.

Re: Mercer c/o 2016
Well I have an e-mail with them explicitly stating you would get both from the Assistant Director of Admissions (or something like that). I hoping the lady who sent me the email is correct. I wouldn't go otherwise because I've gotten offers with scholarship money from significantly higher ranked schools. Thanks for the info though! If any one else hears about the Woodruff let us know.cydleighb wrote:When the lady called me last week about preview day, I can't remember her name now, I asked her what would happen to my 18K if I got the Woodruff. Personally asked the dean of admissions and financial aid face to face whether they stack the woodruff with merit aid. Her "lol no, are you serious?" face was pretty amusing.

I applied for Woodruff as well but have not heard anything. I attended the preview day last week and liked the school, but does anyone on here have any realistic idea of the cost of living in that area? I'm not from GA and was only in Macon for the afternoon. Definitely still one of my top 3 choices from the schools I've been admitted to.

You're not going to find a lot of places with a lower cost of living than south Georgia. It's pretty damn cheap.Nole06 wrote:I applied for Woodruff as well but have not heard anything. Rent is in the neighborhood of $600~ for a nice 1 bedroom. $900 for a two bedroom, and so forth.Nole06 wrote:I applied for Woodruff as well but have not heard anything. I applied for the Woodruff as well but have not heard anything other than general acceptance at Mercer. Does Mercer have any non-Woodruff full-ride scholarships?

Allegedly, according to their financial aid site, they do. But I do not know of any given out this year. Last year there seemed to be a ton given out.faithfulcounsellor wrote:I applied for the Woodruff as well but have not heard anything other than general acceptance at Mercer. I also tried negotiating money with Mercer. Got an updated scholarship email raising the offer from $16,500 to...$18,000. Decision just got really easy to not attend.

I don't know what happened with them and scholarships... but I just withdrew. Not worth it for me. Good luck to whoever else is waiting for their application decisions!

I don't know, I'm really surprised they aren't in a position to be more generous...what's the tuition up to now...it's nearly 40k?Pumpkin_Pie wrote:Same same.
