Re: Hofstra Law Class of 2016
I got in about a week ago and today got an e-mail saying I was awarded an annual tuition scholarship of $40,000.
Does anyone know if this is per year or throughout the 3 years?
Thanks in advance for any responses

Yes I saw that but the verbiage elsewhere screwed me up at first. Anyway I e-mailed them and it was all cleared up and my question was answered. Thanks for the help!

Per year. There are stipulations though so you may want to read the policies on their site.Vpassarelli wrote:I got in about a week ago and today got an e-mail saying I was awarded an annual tuition scholarship of $40,000.

Re: Hofstra Law Class of 2016
My status checker just updated and states that a letter concerning an Honors Scholarship has been sent.
Anyone else? Anyone know what this scholarship entails?
I checked the law school's website and found a lot of scholarships but none with this specific title.

Same...
It's probably just a generic title that lets you know you have a scholarship based off your LSAT and GPA - Could be anywhere from 5,000 to full tuition.
I expect nothing less than full tuition, for myself, tbh.

Anytime they say "annual" that's yearly.

Re: Hofstra Law Class of 2016
Just received my scholarship...
40k a year; unfortunately that is pretty useless with all the stipulations.
St. Johns gave me a full tuition scholarship, yet Hofstra has the nerve to short me 7k of full tuition?
Weird strategy if you ask me.

Stipulations and retention info for "Honors" (Merit) Scholarships: http://law.hofstra.edu/admissions/finan ... index.html
Be advised that these stipulations are actually quite lax compared to those of other schools. Many schools will have a 3.0 or 3.2 stipulations for retention despite the fact that their median GPA flutters closer to 2.7-2.8.

Does anyone know if Hofstra gives out need based aid and how generous do they tend to be?

Don't know how generous they are, but they have a need-based application that's due 4/1. It's rather intensive, so make sure you've got yours (and your parents') tax info on hand.coffeeaddict wrote:Does anyone know if Hofstra gives out need based aid and how generous do they tend to be?

I'm in a waitlist, too. Could you tell me, did you write loci or did you make any actions towards expressing your deep love with the school after you have been waitlisted to get off the wait list?

Could anyone comment on the law school facilities/campus. I have yet to visit. Thanks.

Re: Hofstra Law Class of 2016
Hofstra is a huge, beautiful campus located in a generally shitty area. The campus is split by a major road (Hempstead Turnpike) and there are a few bridges which cross it. The law students tend to spend some time over on UG territory (the UG library is nice) so that's why I mention it. North of Hofstra is a rich area (Garden City) but west and south is pretty shitty / questionable (Hempstead and Uniondale).shedl001 wrote:Could anyone comment on the law school facilities/campus. The law school building is on the south side of campus on a regular road (aka not in the campus itself) and is sort of like a dungeon. It looks small on the outside but it is pretty spaceous inside and goes down deep.
Check it out..

Thanks. Their website does not offer many photos, are the buildings renovated inside specifically law buildings?
