Dean called me today. Very nice! She said I was a good candidate for the John Marshall scholars. Did anyone else hear this?

Yes, I got this as well. Was told 30,000 dollars in potential scholarships as well. I've heard pretty good things about the program. Talk about a nice Christmas present, ehh?sl5uw13 wrote:Dean called me today. Very nice! She said I was a good candidate for the John Marshall scholars. Did anyone else hear this?

Congrats to all who have been accepted and good luck to those still waiting!
I haven't posted on TLS in a while, but I'm a 1L at Richmond and wanted to make myself available for any questions. I am also a JM scholar. If anyone has questions about the JMS program, living in Richmond, or about the law school in general feel free to PM me (I know there are probably several threads about the law school lurking around these boards, but I'll be sure to respond if I get a PM).

I was accepted around New Year's and am thrilled. Has anyone heard anything regarding financial aid yet?

To whom it may concern, how long did it take the school to cash your application fee check?

Anyone heard any scholarship info? When I got my acceptance call more than a month ago the dean told me it was supposed to be released the 2nd week of January.

I thought I was a sure "In" at Richmond given my numbers and I applied in early November but I haven't gotten a phone call from them yet. Not to mention the fact that they send me mail about once a week advertising the school, and even went so far as to send me an email last week inviting me to apply and offering me a fee waiver... naturally I was a little confused, asked them about it, and they sent me an email apologizing and telling me that my app was under review.
Anyone else have a similar experience? Needless to say, Richmond isn't exactly among my top choices at the moment based purely off of the way they've handled my app...

I agree. While I do not think I am a sure "in," I have been receiving the fee waiver emails and a few mailings since I applied (12/10). Kind of annoying. Wish they had a status checker....

I wouldn't really worry about it. I received a fee waiver after I was admitted. Strange and a little silly but not a deal breaker.

Agreed.
I emailed them back with a "I have already applied, can you apply this waiver to my current pending application?"
They were nice enough to respond immediately and waive the fee for me.

Yeah, I got that too even though I had been accepted a month ago. They just use a list-serv with all of the potential students, and you really can't be removed from that easily. Did you already have a fee waiver when you applied? If not, since they sent one to you, let them know and get a check for your fee back. It is sort of confusing though.Granfalloon12 wrote:I thought I was a sure "In" at Richmond given my numbers and I applied in early November but I haven't gotten a phone call from them yet. Agreed. They really need to get a status checker.
Also, mind sharing your numbers? Just curious.

Just got in about 10 minutes ago! Got a call from the dean who probably thinks I don't know how to say anything besides, "Oh my God," and, "Thank you so much." I just got an e-mail saying they received my application yesterday, didn't think I'd hear from them for another few weeks.

I just got the call!! I'm in! I'm sure the Dean is wondering why she accepted someone that can only say 'oh my God' over and over!

Any of the admitted students receive info about/remember the dates of ASW? I'm hoping to plan a trip up to Richmond but I am away from home and my stack of random law mailers.

Awesome, thank you! Speaking of, I emailed the admissions office last week about the possible change in their stipend program to no avail. Hopefully there will be news about that coming with our huge financial aid packages in the next week or twocrossingfingers wrote:Friday, April 5th, if I recall correctly.fragrock wrote:Any of the admitted students receive info about/remember the dates of ASW?
