You'd think schools would be more communicative with clients who could potentially drop 200k over the next three years. Then again, maybe I've been spoiled by all the schools who at least sent a cursory "Hey, we've got your app - stay tuned for more updates" within 10 days of submission.
Hopefully Emory's career services communicates better with enrolled students than its admission office does with prospectives.

Same. Emory you've restored my faith in you... for now.
Now that we know our apps are complete, best of luck to those for whom Emory is the first choice. Hope y'all get it along with some $$$.

How very supportive and helpful your comment was......
As for nationalphenom, it is very possible you will NOT get waitlisted. Emory accepts people below their median just as much as people above their median. That is how a median works. If you personal statement makes you "different" from the rest of the pack, even more likely you will be in.

Sent in my app back in the start of October but just went complete because I was waiting on a bloody LOR. Hope it doesn't hurt me.
Emory is still my first choice. UGA just accepted me in the first round. In some respects, I think UGA can be harder to get into. I am telling myself this to make me feel better. Come on Emory... I want to drink your koolaid.

Checking in! Submitted my application 11/13, just received word this week that it had been received and was complete.
Emory has been, by far, the least communicative of the school to which I've applied.

UGA started this month. Emory won't start until February or March at the earliest (unless you have an ED app)

Checking in, bros. I applied a long time ago. Emory really isn't interested in communicating with us, are they? It's been a month and I don't even have a "hey, we got your application" e-mail. Oh well.

I'm not an expert on this by far, but I have two pieces of advice for you:
If you didn't give them an addendum in your regular application to explain your GPA, make sure you send it to them ASAP.
Also, make sure you send them a LOCI in the spring if you get waitlisted. Good luck.

Check your LOR and transcript statuses on LSAC. I submitted my app to Emory the first of October, but I was waiting on 1 LOR. LSAC finally got it about a week ago, and a couple of days after LSAC got the LOR I FINALLY received a confirmation email from Emory. You should get one, too. Of course, check your spam. Always check your spam.

I'm a mechanical engineering major, something shown both in transcripts as well as expanded upon in my personal statement. Not really sure what else I can throw on there

I will give it to Emory that they seem to be the kind of school who really
does look at the overall student more often than other T25 schools. But at the end of the day, it's obviously harder to break through when you drop below 3.0 I was simply offering the advice because you would be cheating yourself if you didn't take the incentive to explain it.

Its from a top 20 private UG so hopefully that helps as well. We'll see what happens, admissions representative loved that I was engineering and said I had a really solid chance with IP opportunities, who knows though. Although that was after I had already applied, who knows. I sure don't. Would rather spend the $80 to know for sure than spend the rest of my life wondering what could have been.

I feel your pain, I'm a fellow mech e as well. I've submitted with a 3.63/160 which puts me on the other spectrum as you though. I liked the part where the admissions rep said part of the IP/Patent program is helping Georgia Tech Students file a patent. It would be cool to see that first hand, specially since I'm studying for the Patent Bar right now.
