Congrats 1693! I haven't gotten the packet yet, but like I said, Aguilar claims scholarship info won't go out till the first week of March. Hopefully it'll actually be earlier and he's just doing a CYA, but I'm not expecting anything anytime soon.

Also Pip, I don't know about 1693 but my status checker still hasn't changed from "In Review." And SLC area code is 801 .

What are your favorite things about Utah/SLC? I have never been to the area. Also, kinda OT but just curious, how big of an impact does the Mormon culture have on day-to-day life? Also, are there any Jewish people in the area? Just curious, thanks

I don't know what date I went complete, but I submitted on 11/5 with all things done for my application. My last status says "In Review 12/11" but I got the phone call today. Status still hasn't changed. Hopign yours comes soon!!

Thank you so much for the great answer. That was extremely thorough. I really love the prospect of living in the Mtn West but haven't been to Utah yet. Having lived in Miami & DC there was never a lack of diversity. It's reassuring to hear that I won't be a total outcast being non-Mormon. Ideally I would like to stay in SLC if I do end up at Utah. I will certainly PM if I have any more questions! Thanks!

Tuition seems fairly high for out of state students. Fortunately, the school says you can obtain residency by your spring semester of your second year. That's a bonus.

Or you can take classes in the summer and get it before Fall of 2L. Plus summer tuition is charged at the in-state rate.

A tuition waiver just allows you to pay in-state tuition as an out of state student. Some schools will offer them as a de facto scholarship.

Hey - Did everyone include an "evaluation" with their application? Utah was the only school I applied to that recommended (but not required) one. I am starting to worry it will hurt me. I just couldnt bring myself to harass my professors to fill one out. It was enough of a pain to coach them through the LSAC process.

Feel free to talk me off the ledge here (or tell me I'm screwed). Lol

Accepted earlier this week. Anyone know if its possible to get in state the first year if your spouse gets a job in state? I know some states like ohio do that just not sure if utah does

I'm not positive but I don't think so.

Any applicants URMs here? I'm NA and am submitting my app in the morning. I lived in SLC for 2 years attending Westminster College and LOVED the city, so I'd be thrilled to return. I am Mormon, actually, but not from Utah, so SLC felt much more "normal" than places like Provo (where I also lived, attending BYU for a brief moment, and where I will not be applying to law school) or the backwater towns. Mormon or not, I'll tell ya, the tiny little small towns of Utah are filled with nutters. But SLC is an awesome place, tons to do indoors and out, strong economic growth, good place to raise a family, and just nice people. There are some ghetto areas (west valley city, magna), but anywhere in the actual city boundary of salt lake is usually going to be awesome.

Accepted via phone call last week! 162/3.44 math major. I have a weird question though. I called the associate Dean back after I missed his original call, and he was not able to take it as he is off in New York. However, I get an email from him a few days later with my last name spelled wrong (Peach instead of Patch ha). Which I just brush off thinking I probably just said my name quickly in my message and he wasn't able to crosscheck his database to find my name. However, when he called back it was the same thing, but also he had what school I am graduating from wrong as well. He went on for about 5 minutes telling me how close Utah's law school academically was to Colorado College (I attend Colorado State), which has me kind of worried about the law school in general. Like in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter but thought it was pretty interesting and funny! Is that something I should email him and update him or just leave it and laugh about it?

Personally I would not worry about that much. They are juggling a bunch of student info right now. Now, if you get your packet and your name is wrong... then I would worry.

Yeah that's where I am at. Really not a big deal at all, but thought it was funny, it really is amazing it doesn't happen more with how much info they have to deal with daily!

Status Check also changed for me, although when I log it in looks the same (compared screen shots.) Hopefully the wave is starting!

edit: I submitted my app around November 28th or so...
