I think I will apply, but don't really have any interest in going to Chicago for 3 years. I'd pick CNP and possibly even V over it.

^Haha, right? No interest in a top-five school in a great city. @Triveal - you have a better shot at NPV anyway, so why waste your time here? 99% of law school applicants would be happy to go to Chicago.TemporarySaint wrote:Thanks. Chicago does fee waivers. If you qualify for one, it will show up on your LSAC Application fees page once you've taken the LSAT.
Lol at the guy willing to pick insular, fratty Charlottesville over a world-class city like Chi-town.

When you go to submit your application, it'll have the fee waived if you qualified for it. The so-called "hidden waiver." FWIW, an LSAT of 174 did not get a waiver. I think they care more about GPA + LSAT than LSAT on its own.bernaldiaz wrote:What is this LSAC application fees page that you speak of?anewaphorist wrote:Chicago does fee waivers. Has Chicago granted solicited requests in the past? I'm slightly under median LSAT but well above 75th GPA, so I was hoping to get a little love.shadowofjazz wrote:When you go to submit your application, it'll have the fee waived if you qualified for it. Has anyone actually confirmed that they do hidden fee waivers? In the thread from 2011-12 they are not one of the schools listed that do that. I am a 3.99/174 so I should have one if they do them, but I'm having trouble uploading my PS and resume to be able to finish the app and get to payment.shadowofjazz wrote:When you go to submit your application, it'll have the fee waived if you qualified for it. your lsat is better than mine (I'm at 4.0/169), but I can confirm that there is no hidden waiver on my page.bernaldiaz wrote:Has anyone actually confirmed that they do hidden fee waivers? Chicago's a little bit stingy with their fee waivers so don't take offense if you don't get one. Just checked my LSN and them, Harvard, and UT were the only schools that I didn't get a fee waiver from. Good luck this cycle guys! Hope to see y'all at Chicago next year.

Re: Chicago c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I had unsolicited waivers from all of CCN last year with 4.0/173. I took the October LSAT so this might not help anyone now, but here were the dates I received waivers (and could find the email)
UVA 10/26
Gtown 10/26
Northwestern 10/27
UCLA 10/27
UC Irvine 11/9
Chicago 12/19
Penn 12/19
Duke PT 1/10
USC 1/10
Vandy 1/11
I know CLS was right around the time I got one from Chicago and NYU was one of the earliest. Harvard sent me a fake-out waiver email inviting me to apply on 12/1, but they didn't waive the fee.
Good luck to everyone this year.
Edit- Columbia was actually Feb 2.

Is it important how you answer the "What prompted you to apply to this law school?" question, i.e. would they have a problem if someone were to put US News and nothing else, for example?

I think the consensus would be to take every part of your application seriously. Why leave anything to chance? I know it's your hypothetical, but if you can't think of another reason to attend Chicago other than it's USNR, you're probably not cut out for Chicago. I never understood why people want answers to seemingly obvious questions. For you it should be: (1) write killer application, (2) get into Chicago Law, (3) make $$, (4) run world.giuseppes12 wrote:Is it important how you answer the "What prompted you to apply to this law school?" question, i.e. would they have a problem if someone were to put US News and nothing else, for example?

Checking in as well! Maybe a little bit of a stretch to get in, but I'm gonna put my best app forward and see what happens.

Re: Chicago c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Started this application tonight, and the issue here is that this question doesn't allow for written reasons why you're attracted to Chicago: it asks what "prompted" you to apply, i.e. how you heard about them. The possible answers are preselected and you have to check off those that apply to you.rickyb514 wrote:I think the consensus would be to take every part of your application seriously. I didn't find out about Chicago through LSAC or the ABA, I wasn't encouraged by a relative or pre-law adviser who was familiar with the school, and I never attended any recruiting events. So I'm just checking off the boxes that say "USNR" and "Internet-Other" (TLS isn't an option lol). I don't know if it will negatively impact my application or not, but I'm not going to lie and check off any boxes that don't apply.

Sorry yeah should've been more clear about the question for those who haven't checked out the app yet

Actually it's pretty funny (and understandable) that you thought I was going to write a "Why X" about the USN ranking and nothing else haha I'm sure that'd be a quick route to the rejection pilerickyb514 wrote:I think the consensus would be to take every part of your application seriously.giuseppes12 wrote:Is it important how you answer the "What prompted you to apply to this law school?" question, i.e. would they have a problem if someone were to put US News and nothing else, for example?

Yeah, I can see it now:giuseppes12 wrote:Actually it's pretty funny (and understandable) that you thought I was going to write a "Why X" about the USN ranking and nothing else haha I'm sure that'd be a quick route to the rejection pile
Though my life has experienced many changes, one thing remains constant, a reoccurring symbol amidst the chaos: the number 5. I was born the youngest of 5 siblings, entered the educational system exactly on my 5th birthday, my baseball jersey was number 5, I graduated 5th in my class in high school, and took 5 years to finish my college degree, as I was working part-time for Domino's Pizza, where I invented the 555 deal. Thus, once I decided that law was the career for me, I knew what I had to do. I grabbed a copy of the U.S. News Rankings, immediately looked up the 5th spot, and there it was: Chicago Law School. Destiny is calling. Chicago Law, you are the one for me.
