Held as well.

I honestly don't know what this means, like...is this akin to Harvard's "hold" or is this something more positive, as in "we like you and you've advanced to the next phase?"

I'm fairly certain it's the latter.

3.2/169 Faculty review...not too optimistic about the whole process, but maybe students will be kinder on my lack of grades than an adcom?

Students, I thought the committee was all faculty?

Berkeley Dean of Admissions Edward Tom wrote:We identify about 1400 to 1600 applications that are very competitive, and these we send to our faculty admissions committee, comprised of six faculty and twelve students. Students serve in an advising capacity on the committee. I admit roughly 550 people through what I call the administrative review process, and the admissions committee (the faculty committee) admits about another 200 or so. So, we end up admitting about 700 to 750 people.
If you opted not to allow students to read your file, only faculty members will participate in your review.

As mentioned elsewhere, looking at the numbers for this cycle, Berkeley has held some really high standards for admits (though that indicates nothing about matriculants). I think faculty review is prob where they find those to fill in their bottom 25%.

Yea! We're roughly a third of the way there! Only 16 (possible 15) days left....

I am at or above both 75ths, I wonder if this means I messed up my ps and they want to give me a second look?

I think people generally think with Berkeley - who knows. I wouldn't read too much into it. :D

I want to go back to California so bad :-(. Spending another 3 years on the East Coast at UVA or UPenn is really gonna suck.

So does anyone know if we all hear on the 17th or do they trickle out decisions between now and then?

Yeahh duh. This is basically how I am 24/7 because of having to live on the East Coast again: http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/35bjwv/. The two are linked though. I haven't heard from Stanford (probably a reject) so Berkeley is my only viable option at this point of returning to my home state! On top of that it's the most amazing school ever.

They said around the 17th, so I expect that week to be a bloodbath.

I wish I knew more specifically what they are looking for, so I could obsess about this more. Softs? Numbers? Interest in Berkeley?

Edit: I worry about all of the above, hah

I just looked at last year's LSN and it looks like FR was a bloodbath. I guess it's safe to assume that this year will be about the same and that makes me afraid.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
