Not in the least bit! I know you got a better acceptance from Hofstra but its still nice to get money somewhere, even if you confident you will not be attending.Kess wrote:Thank you? Thank you, I appreciate it then! I just know the general TLS sentiment towards these kind of places and being that it's sometimes hard to detect sarcasm online, I was checking. lol. So far I have NYLS, Hofstra, and St. John's... but really crossing my fingers for Cardozo.ColumbiaChamp wrote:Not in the least bit! Question: why are you guys applying to a school that is currently being sued for defrauding it's students?

Waiting for December scores, they're real late this year. Gotta get a lot of scholarship to think about attending here.

I got a $25k yearly scholly, but I've been accepted to Rutgers Newark with a $10k scholarship.....there's no reason why I should attend NYLS. Good luk to those who are still waiting!

Re: New York Law
I was also offered the $12,000 scholarship. NYLS being what is it, I would need to be offered a MUCH larger scholarship to even begin to consider attending. Especially when the stipulations are so steep and somewhat misleading. The award letter seemed to suggest that a 3.1 was required to maintain the scholarship, but then the next sentence stated that those with less than a 3.3 would be converted to a $7,500 scholarship while those falling below 3.0 would, naturally, lose their scholarship and all eligibility for future scholarships from NYLS.
Given the mediocre reputation of this school, its not far-fetched to say this will be the first school I officially withdraw from. Heck, I've been offered a full-tuition scholarship with OOS waiver to Akron, and if I find myself staring down the barrel of attending a Tier 3/4 school with such strict stipulations I would definitely choose Akron's offer over New York's, but chances are I'd likely reevaluate the whole undertaking. Fortunately this will not be the case for me, as I've been offered other scholarships at other institutions with better reputations and more reasonable stipulations. Either way, I'm not one of those so desperate for a J.D. that I'll go ANYWHERE, the consequences and job prospects be damned.

Thanks guys, so looks like unless you are super stellar in your numbers, they're kinda stingy.

My status date just changed from 11/17/11 to 1/4/12. Did this happen with anyone else? Hope this means a decision is coming soon.

Umm, correct me if I'm wrong but I thought it has been made pretty clear not to troll threads like these...YourCaptain wrote:Because they're the same kind of people who think that attending cardozo would be a good idea?MTal wrote:Question: why are you guys applying to a school that is currently being sued for defrauding it's students?

I dunno how clear it's been made (which is why I'm not banning right off the bat), but it is definitely discouraged. PSA: invading a school's thread to troll will get you banned. If you want to share news, start another thread.MrPapagiorgio wrote:Umm, correct me if I'm wrong but I thought it has been made pretty clear not to troll threads like these...YourCaptain wrote:Because they're the same kind of people who think that attending cardozo would be a good idea?MTal wrote:Question: why are you guys applying to a school that is currently being sued for defrauding it's students?

Re: New York Law
You're new so I will explain MTal to you: he is a bitter law school dropout who chastises people for wanting to attend law school when in reality he doesn't have any stake in your decisions yet feels the need to warn the world about law school by posting thread after thread on TLS about the same tired old stories. Now, for the sake of you applicants, let this be the end of MTal in this thread.dingbat wrote:Because not everyone can get into Yale.MTal wrote:Question: why are you guys applying to a school that is currently being sued for defrauding it's students?

Re: New York Law
I received an email today saying there had been a typo on the Nunez Scholar form and that they were sending a new letter, so this may explain the confusion I previously mentioned.
