Got official acceptance in the mail last night with a $25k scholarship offer. Gave me more than John Marshall, made me pretty happy.

It definitely did. I went to Lolla this summer and walked past the building so many times and my bf fell in love with Chicago. I really want to be somewhere that I have friends and family, and Chicago fits that bill. It's also a major US city that I haven't lived in, and I love jumping around and trying new places. I was freaking out about the job market but then my bf reminded me that I will have an LSW so I can always use that as a backup. Who wouldn't hire a social worker with a JD?!

Yeah. That's a great combo. I'm pretty confident I'm going to end up in Chicago, just don't know what school yet.

Same. Even though I've only had 2 acceptances, it's looking much better than staying in the Cleveland area.

John Marshall. Figured I'd look at it. Of course DePaul offered me more money and the stipulations aren't as stringent, AND DePaul is a better school, so it kind of knocks John Marshall off the list.

It does help! I just sat there and poked through it for awhile last night. It also wouldn't fit in my mailbox so it sat on the floor for all my neighbors to see

Since we got acceptances the same day I'm sure you'll be getting it soon.

Yeah, I had it sent to my house so I'll have to wait a few days, but I'd love to see the scholarship info. Today will be the two weeks they mentioned on the dot.

I wouldn't worry too much about the facilities. As long as there is a desk, a chair, and a power outlet for my computer, I'll be satisfied. The important thing to consider is the employment data. Last year, DePaul reported a median PP salary of $66,500. That seems low compared to its competitors...but DePaul had a shockingly high salary response rate of 76%. Kent only managed to get 48% of grads to report salaries and Loyola received 29%. I think its a fair assumption to say that those with higher salaries are much more likely to report them, so schools with lower response rates may not be portraying accurate statistics. DePaul's placement seems sound, but no guarantees exist. Its a tough call. Do you guys have connections that could land you a job? Or will you be applying on your own?

I agree with that info. However, I am not looking for BigLaw. My goal is to find a job as an ADA. I have some connections in Chicago, but also have fallback options in TX and NY.

I'm not looking for BigLaw either, of course that's where my connections lie. Oh well. I'm hoping to end up in prosecution.

Thanks! Their new GPA stipulations are a really encouraging sign. I will definitely have to check out the school soon.

so what is a 3.2 at depaul? what does that stip mean, top half, top third?

Congrats! Yeah, the stipulations are really appealing. Could be a deal maker, but I still want to hear from some others and go look.
