Anyone get a status checker from Berkeley yet or confirmation that they received app? I sent on 9/15 and it still says "transmitted" & "report not requested by law school" on LSAC Is this wierd? b/c I either got a status checker or "we received your app confirmation email from all other T13 schools, except for NYU and M.

I was going to ask the same thing. FWIW, I have the same message and transmitted the first day that apps were being accepted. I am assuming they are taking their time requesting the reports.

Nope, my application has gone from "transmitted" to "completed on LSAC, but no word from Berkeley.

I think it depends on there being valuable content. Mine barely made it to the 3rd page, and that was just it's natural ending. I got a call from Dean Tom 4 days after I submitted my app. There's no formula.

ETA: I see these two questions on the app:
Are you applying for an academic scholarship?
Are you applying for a need-based scholarship?

I'm a bit confused about these questions; nowhere do I see an application for any academic or need-based scholarships with the Berkeley application. Anyone know what schollys this is referring to?
There is a separate scholarship process. I don't remember looking for this info before I knew I had been admitted, and the info is definitely behind the admitted students wall on that page. Basically, if the process is the same as last year, they automatically consider you for scholarships, but they also allow you to submit a statement of interest, so that they can give you an extra look or something. And scholarship decisions don't come out until....like May, I think? So, this is really a long ways off. I'm not sure what the strategy would be, if any, on what to mark there. I'm assuming I marked yes for both. But I do think it's sort of a weird question, based on what I know now.

Are any of you guys submitting a diversity statement as part of the attached addenda? Can't tell if Berkeley wants this or not.

What was the reason for the call, might I ask? Was it a JR1-style interview?

I think it was an offer of admission call.

spek is right. As you guys may have already heard, there also does not seem to be a formula for who gets calls vs. emails of acceptance.

Couple things:

1) You may never get a confirmation that they received your app, or it might come in a month.
2) I used the same PS I used for every other school and it was only 2 pages, so the 4 pages aren't necessary. Only do it if you think it improves your PS.
3) Good luck

I got the status checker too.
My status is currently "We have received your application" but everything is checked off on the requirement list. Does this count as complete or should I wait for an email/status update actually saying "complete"

I don't even know why I applied to Berkeley. They are not splitter-friendly, and anyway, I'm not even a real splitter. I'm a person with a low GPA who has a slightly less low LSAT score. Haha!

My status currently says "Your file is under review." Anyone else have this? What does this mean... is my file complete?

I have a "your file is complete" for my status.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
