Re: Waitlisted at Chicago 2011
After reading this thread, I feel a little discouraged. My #s are 3.76/170 with a science major. Not sure if that'll help - I don't think there's a ton of data on that out there.
I just applied.

Not really sure how to feel. Last year no one on LSN got in off the WL (although I've heard anecdotal evidence of a couple of splitters.) The year before that there are 15 - 20 in off the WL on LSN alone.

Re: Waitlisted at Chicago 2011
Last year was an incredible year with so many more LSAT takers and so many more apps. I am waiting for this December's LSAT data, Oct was down 10%, I hope the trend continues so we can get back to 2009 levels where you actually get of WLs. Also since last year was so bad, I hope the schools are being over cautious.BeachedBrit wrote:Not really sure how to feel. 170/3.5 -- I think I have the lowest stats here, so that's pretty much made me give up all hope of ever seeing an acceptance.

179/ Foreign Degree rated by LSAC as "Above Average". What was the earliest that someone got in off the waitlist last year? I plan to write a why chicago should want me instead of a why chicago. Considering that I am going to withdraw if I get no reply before deposits are due, I see in no harm in trying that.

Today is the deadline for admitted students to file Need Access at Chicago, do we need to do this if we are on the waitlist?

You? I'm a URM but I'm a 165/3.92. If these people are waitlisted, I just wish they'd tell me already. I was pissed their ASW was the same time as Berkeley's but now I'm thinking it might not matter for me.softsgalore wrote:170/3.5 -- I think I have the lowest stats here, so that's pretty much made me give up all hope of ever seeing an acceptance.

Are you in at any of the other schools that require need access? I would file if you need to do it for them anywayGoBearrrs wrote:Today is the deadline for admitted students to file Need Access at Chicago, do we need to do this if we are on the waitlist?

Withdrew today...
175 (162 retake) so I guess you could call me a 169/3.96
Good luck to everyone else!

Going to try to update my resume with them for a new job I just received. I'll be riding this one out, the best school I've been offered admission to thus far is Texas with no scholarship and I'll just reapply again next year if nothing pans out any better.

Re: Waitlisted at Chicago 2011
I probably actually have the lowest stats here. Non-URM with a 167 sub-3.8. I have very little hope of making it off the waitlist, but I'll definitely be sending in a Why Chicago? and getting another LOR from a past employer who is a U of C grad. I kind of doubt I'm going to see any more acceptances at this point, except maybe at Northwestern. But I'd give up a deposit at any of the places I've currently gotten in to go to Chicago.
Now I've just gotta get my butt in gear to write that essay...

I'm trying to figure this one out now. I'm pretty well set on Michigan at this point. Especially since I liked it the most out of all the schools I visited... I just wish employment statistics and rankings weren't married.r6_philly wrote:This group has been small! So who is sticking it out?

Re: Waitlisted at Chicago 2011
From the decision letter:
Please note that submitting supplemental materials is entirely optional and that we will only accept materials electronically.
Does this include additional LORs? I was going to ask another recommender to send a letter directly to the school. Should I do it through LSAC instead? (Just wanted to get the thing processed faster...) If no one knows the answer I'll call the school on Friday.

Riding the waitlist. Mostly splitters, soft reverse splitters, and YP candidates here, amiright?
PM for stats. I'm on the high end of the splitter stats posted so far, so nothing too exciting to add.

Re: Waitlisted at Chicago 2011
I am probably going to just reapply next year anyways considering how my cycle is going. Retaking the LSAT in June. The chances of me riding this out is miniscule since I think the financial end of things will be tighter for waitlists too.

I don't fit any of the 3 categories. But if they don't want me why WL me? I don't know what to do here.wiseguy33 wrote:Riding the waitlist. Mostly splitters, soft reverse splitters, and YP candidates here, amiright?

Re: Waitlisted at Chicago 2011
A huge guess, and probably completely wrong, but maybe they are being a little more cautious this year and WL more ppl because they overenrolled last year and are trying to get back to their target (of like 180 students or something).r6_philly wrote:I don't fit any of the 3 categories. This thread is depressing. Even with a late app, I was feeling pretty optimistic about Chicago with my 171/3.89...now seeing all of you with excellent #'s getting WL'd has me nervous as hell

Re: Waitlisted at Chicago 2011
Has anyone tried submitting any additional materials other than the requested-ish LOCI? I'm going to try 2 more LOR via LSAC and a new resume but I'm not sure how that will pan out...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
