Re: West Virginia 2011
Ohio resident here, applied about a week ago and just waiting for one LOR. It will be sent under a day or two and hopefully processed quickly. Unfortunately applied a little latter than I would have like, but keep in mind that TLS users are probably applying earlier than the majority of applicants. They really are going to get inundated in January.

My numbers are way above their 75/75. I am a WV resident but WVU was my
super safety. The academic quality is....... Not good.

Does anyone know if it's true that residents get preference?
The web site says it is but..well ya know...I'm in the nervous-wreck state and questioning everything. (lol)

Mich State over WVU everytime. Congrats on that acceptance. Any BIG 10 school will give you a top shelf education.

I disagree. MSU is separate from the undergrad. The law school used to be something more horrendous than Detroit Mercy. In trying to become more prestigious, MSU mildly incorporated a small nothing of a law school from Detroit. They have a strange and dubious career placement. MSU is a regional school in a state that has one of the worst economies and one of the best law schools (UMich). The career placement numbers must be fudged.elaw wrote:Mich State over WVU everytime. BTW if you are not attending T6, T14, or whatever (MSU and WVU are not breaking into those ranks anytime soon), cost of attendance and regional preference are the vital aspects. Big 10, ACC, PAC 10, whatever. The Ivey League is the only athletic conference that matters in academics. Way to drink the "Big 10" Kool aid from Michigan State's promo materials though.

Re: West Virginia 2011
I would not seriously cons
PS - Bill Stewart is a fucking joke
I personally am not looking at either school. Both are poor in their own regards and carry little to no prestige. I believe in the long run that both schools will stay in the 90+ range and attract mid 3.0 and mid to low 150 LSAT scores. Being a West Virginian in the southern part of the state I can honestly say that high paying law jobs in this state are RARE. The fact my grandfather and father run a rather successful and profitable firm with 20 lawyers is what will make me eventually come back and live in WV. I have been to WVU and I lastedt about 3 days before I had to get the hell out. The academics are laughable and Morgantown is rather disgusting.BlazedBillyMaze wrote:I disagree. Damn son. Getting a little heated... WVU and WV in general is what it is and it isn't for everyone. My assertion was that MSU Law is suspect (nothing about prestige, but shady, unethical, etc) and its Big 10 claims don't matter. I agree about Stewart though.

For those admitted, where does WVU fall on your list of possibilities?

Numero Uno. That in-state tuition + scholarship possibilities. Plus I like WV so its a win-win.

Re: West Virginia 2011
how long does it take for your file to begin being reviewed after it's completed? one of my recommenders forgot to sign his lor, so I wasn't able to apply until the week after Thanksgiving. My status has been "file completed" since 12/6. Think the holiday may be delaying it at all?
WVU is also my first choice, though I haven't been accepted. I've also applied to University of Dayton and Ohio Northern University.

It took mine like a week to go from "completed" until "in review" I believe. I went into review 12/3 and am still waiting. Hope I hear something soon.
