For those of you who applied ED, do you have ED indicated anywhere on your status checker? I don't seem to.

Nope. I was afraid that they hadn't received it since it has to be sent through snail mail, so I e-mailed them and they confirmed they had it.

So I sent in my app on 11/14, still haven't heard a thing from LLS, not even an "application received" email or anything? I applied to 19 schools and heard back from all except them. Is that normal?
p.s. lsac said they sent the requested report already

Re: Loyola LA 2011
From what I read of last years threads yes that is normal. I think instead of sending "application received" emails after each and every single application they send them in batches or something so it takes longer (<-- that part is just a guess).samfii wrote:So I sent in my app on 11/14, still haven't heard a thing from LLS, not even an "application received" email or anything? I submitted at the beginning of October and just got the checker on 11/15. I called their office at the beginning of November and they said they were not going to start processing anything until mid-month, so they are probably still working through the October applications.samfii wrote:So I sent in my app on 11/14, still haven't heard a thing from LLS, not even an "application received" email or anything? Yeah, there's 5 moderators (Admissions staff) and prolly ~66 participants (too lazy to count) in here atm.obrienfa wrote:Is anyone doing the informational chat in a half hour?
A lot of the questions people are asking are common knowledge on TLS.

Came in at the end and read through the transcript. Nothing really useful. It was mostly common knowledge like people said on here earlier. Lots of people asking about their particular undergrad university/major and if it would be weighed heavily in the decision process.

Re: Loyola LA 2011
Just received an AD tweet about an interview they posted with Loyola's Dean of Admissions. Seems pretty thorough and gives a lot of information about their ED/Regular admissions process.
I found it particularly interesting how she described an ED applicant to Loyola who was "outed" on TLS when he/she was reluctant to withdraw applications to other schools after getting accepted to Loyola. Dean Roberts also seems very open about Loyola's grade inflation scandal last spring. Overall, it's a very informative interview.

It is interesting that they downplay all the predictions and number based admissions that forums like TLS use as common knowledge. I think at one point in the interview she basically states that people on online forums think they know it all when it comes to who gets in and who doesn't but that they have no idea. They really make it sound like they give everyone a fair and holistic review, which law schools don't really have a rep for doing. I really don't see that as humanly possible because they receive 5500+ apps. I wish she would have said how many people applied ED last year. Only 29 admits (which is also 29 offers since ED is binding) through ED which is pretty low, considering they admit over 1500 people. Thanks for the link though, it was pretty interesting but nothing we haven't really heard.SHarry3666 wrote:Just received an AD tweet about an interview they posted with Loyola's Dean of Admissions. I was looking over LSN from last year and it seems like there will be a wave of decisions within the next two weeks. I don't know if they were ED's or not though because no one marked if they were. Fingers crossed that it is both early and regular decisions!

From what I saw from last year, most, if not all, were NOT ED because they ended up attending other schools. I'm very curious to see how ED works at Loyola...this is only its second year. I wonder if they give UVA ED type bumps.obrienfa wrote:I was looking over LSN from last year and it seems like there will be a wave of decisions within the next two weeks. I'd be curious to see how it works as well. In the interview above, the dean said they only had 29 EDers they accepted so maybe not many people apply ED?adonai wrote:From what I saw from last year, most, if not all, were NOT ED because they ended up attending other schools. Aw man, that kinda stinks! I applied ED and am just itching for some news. Last time I talked to one of the adcomms, he said that I would hear a decision by Christmas...hopefully that is still the case! I also hope that not that many people applied ED last year, because 29 admits is not that many.adonai wrote:From what I saw from last year, most, if not all, were NOT ED because they ended up attending other schools. Re: Loyola LA 2011
I think that is why RD decisions were reported when they were - 29 admits tells me they didn't have a ton of ED applicants to begin with and could move onto RD applicants faster.lalalawya wrote:Aw man, that kinda stinks! Re: Loyola LA 2011
I still hold to my theory that it is true that there aren't many applicants interested in committing to a binding decision at Loyola. Loyola is notorious for being the safety school/negotiation piece for UCLA EDers and USCers being that a majority of the applicants are locals and want to stay in socal. Loyola doesn't seem to YP and tries to entice these individuals with a lot of money. I saw a lot of 84k's last year on LSN going out to people with UCLA/USC numbers. Let's just hope that Loyola has this noted in mind and really holds the ED in high regard. In their TLS profile it seems like they do.obrienfa wrote:I think that is why RD decisions were reported when they were - 29 admits tells me they didn't have a ton of ED applicants to begin with and could move onto RD applicants faster.lalalawya wrote:Aw man, that kinda stinks! Applied 11/30. No word of any sort yet. Sounds like that's par for the course, according to this thread.

Looking at last year's LSN, it looks like decisions should start rolling in pretty soon (hopefully by Monday or Tuesday).
