Is LSAC now using the slow boat to Antartica? because that is where I am beginning to feel I have landed.

Crickets over here. Complete as of 11/19/10. I went out there and visited too so they would know I was serious. I'm somewhat of a splitter, but I should be good according to LSN. WTF? Time for an interest letter or is that jumping the gun? I was hoping for a nice scholly.

Yeah Ive been sitting at complete since 11/18 myself. Im above both 75ths so don't really know what the issue is and why people who apply two months after get a decision rendered in less than a week. Damn, I thought I was doing a good thing applying early, guess I shoud've waited last minute like everyone else.Midnight Rider wrote:Crickets over here. Complete as of 11/19/10. I suspect your issues are a result of yield protection as opposed to a policy favoring last minute applicants....rockyIV wrote:Yeah Ive been sitting at complete since 11/18 myself. Mid-Nov app still haven't heard anything. GPA better than 75/lsat at the 25.
Anyone know any inside info on the #1 dispute resolution program? I'm really starting to like the sound of it, but I'm a little confused what people usually use this program to do. I guess just anything like personal injury/torts, but i want more info. Please help. Thanks and good luck!
P.S. Anyone know anyone who has done the LLM, Certificate, or whatevesssss?

Re: Pepperdine 2011
The Straus Institute's programs focus on Mediation, Arbitration, and Negotiation. It is a program meant to develop practical skills in these areas. Classes are available to law students in the traditional semester format, as well as intensive programs (which can be taken by law students as well) which can be as short as a full time week or spread over several meetings over a two week span. The intensive format seems to attract a fair number of non- law students, including current attorneys and people in various fields who have positions requiring some form of conflict resolution training.Top14Hope wrote:Mid-Nov app still haven't heard anything. The institute offers an LLM, an MDR, and a certificate program.
The school also offers at least one clinical program dealing with mediation.
While family law is an obvious area in which dispute resolution generally is valuable, the courts use mediators as well for many issues.
The negotiation courses will be broadly applicable to settling claims in litigation generally, and the interviewing/planning course will be broadly applicable to transactional work as well as litigation.
Mediation is its own field that can be practiced exclusively, but many attorneys also provide mediation services.
Arbitration is generally practiced by more seasoned professionals, so as a law student, gaining an understanding of the process from the perspective of counsel for an arbitrating party is maybe the most applicable way the programs might be useful in the short term.
A good amount of the LLM students are obviously looking to get into the field full time, while a good number of the certificate candidates use it as resume padding, or hope that the practical skills aspects of the courses will help them generally in practice.

I went in for a visit and met with Vice Dean Perrin. I don't know if that helped with timing. Also, with my work experience along with my stats, I should have been a definite in with $$ so that might have sped things up. On the other hand (which I'm trying not to think about but might make you feel better) I did have to write a background explanation. It's not a huge deal and not in any way something that would impact my admittance to the bar, but Pepperdine is so conservative, they might have taken one look and said, "No way."

Got my Wavenet account this morning. Just checked again at someone's suggesting and saw that my status changed from complete to admitted.
Hoping for good scholarship info in the mail today!
