I applied the first week of November and heard back 12/24, FWIW. I think they're averaging about 8 weeks.youngblood wrote:Ive been in comittee review since 1/27

Re: Whittier 2011 Applicants
There was a problem with my email address, it's happened with a couple of schools this cycle. I called admissions, had my email switched, and turns out I was admitted a few days ago. Great turn-around time, I have to give them that!
Did everyone admitted, who got the scholly email, call about it?

If the money's right, I'd definitely consider it.
60k a year is a lot to pay for a T4. Especially since I've gotten into T2s with money.

congrats, MrMisiu! I called about the scholly email, got $26k a year.MrMisiu wrote:There was a problem with my email address, it's happened with a couple of schools this cycle. But, FWIW, I have a few friends who graduated from Whittier this past May. All of them passed the bar, but only one out of my FOUR friends that just finished 3L has an actual law job right now. I'm definitely looking at going to a T2 with a little less money but a lot better job prospects ITE.

Thanks a lot!
And thanks for that info. It looks like I won't be wasting their time with a phone call. Now... Had I only not wasted that application money

I mean, if you can get a JD for a good price, then it's not that bad of a deal, right? I wouldn't rule it out. The one guy that I do know that got a job got a GOOD one. It's up to the individual. I would at least call and see what you can get...MrMisiu wrote:Thanks a lot!

Re: Whittier 2011 Applicants
That is what is strange about Whittier. I got like a 28k scholly but to get about that much for 2L year I would have to finish top 10%...... that is an absolutely ridiculous stipulation (full tuition if I finish top 5%). I think I will do well in law school but I am not foolish enough to think that just because Whittier is a tier 4 school I will automatically finish top 5-10%. I have gotten large scholarships from several T3's and a few T2's that have much more reasonable stipulations.swilson215 wrote:I mean, if you can get a JD for a good price, then it's not that bad of a deal, right? Re: Whittier 2011 Applicants
I just feel bad because the email made me feel guilty if I didn't go hah. Something about how once merit is awarded and if you don't take it, then it disappears into thin air. And though, not to sound cocky, I don't think I'd be happy with anything under full; which I can admit is not likely, since my numbers aren't HYS-like. If I got 26k, that still leaves 14k for tuition and another 20k for the year. So after 3 years, 102k for T4... Just doesn't sit right with me (mostly because of everything I've read on these board for the past 6 months).
I have to give it to the lower tier schools for innovation though. That may seem like a ridiculous stipulation, and one you definitely can't count on, but it's not a bad idea. And I really like their idea of a mentor program- at least what I imagine it to be from the admission email.

Whittier is not 60k per year, more like 32k from my last check.

He is correctly factoring in cost of living ... also I think tuition is 36k not 32k.

Yeah, that makes sense. I am lucky to have an apartment at my father's house for free rent.
