Oh, Bumi. So serious. Notice the line of "nefarious conspiracies" (showing intentional lack of seriousness)? This was a vapid line of speculation premised upon a fact that wasn't true. Thanks for heaping dirt onto my shame.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
Just submitted today, RD. Cornell is one of my top choices - I love upstate NY (although, it's true, I've never spent a whole winter there) and I went to undergrad on an urban non-campus so I'm really psyched about possibly having a beautiful campus for law school. I'm hoping I might get a little money, but who knows. Good luck to everyone!

Might be a dumb question but we need to submit our apps (including PS) by Nov 1 or Nov 15? Thanks.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
If I remember correctly you need to submit the app by November 1st and they need to have all the parts by November 15th to be considered for EA. I hope that makes sense.jjlaw wrote:Might be a dumb question but we need to submit our apps (including PS) by Nov 1 or Nov 15? Thanks.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
Nifty, I was getting worried mine was still "processing" after like 4 days, but apparently I've got a while to wait. Are all the parts of your app checked off? Mine has a check mark next to app fee (which was waived), but empty boxes next to everything else.bleedblue wrote:cruelestgame wrote:been "processing" since 10/1 and nothing yet. complete at all my other schools. weird.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
I applied on 9/29 and received an email informing me my EA application was complete yesterday, 10/27.
Don't worry if it's processing for a while. Mine was processing with just the "application fee" box checked for the entire time.
Best of luck everyone!

Also applying to Cornell I really am missing the East Coast and the idea of Manhattan's COL makes me appreciate Cornell that much more

I've been "processing" for a week- does the Early Action deadline apply to when you submit or when you're complete? They're verrrry slow it seems... No offense Cornell admissions people if you're out there

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
FWIW, I submitted about three weeks ago and just went complete for EA on 10/27. No clue as to why it seems to take longer than other schools. I think you have to submit your application by November 1st and they have to recieve everything by November 15th to be considered for EA. Best of luck to everyone.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
I was in this group last year. Applied EA, deferred in December, added to the Reserve List (a pre-waitlist waitlist) in either January or February, and finally admitted (after 3 letters of continued interest) with a small handful of others just before Memorial Day. At the time it SUCKED. The entire process was incredibly frustrating and, at the time at least, we all felt like they were preferring the RD people to those who applied back in October. In retrospect, I'm not sure if that's the case though.1republic wrote:I was looking over last year's Cornell applicants thread and it seems the people who applied EA were mostly deferred and then strung along till May-ish until a final decision was made. They made it sound like they filled up lots of the spots from RD applicants and then used the people waiting from EA to fill up remaining spots/ppl who withdraw or deny their offers until they can fill up the entire class.
But my stats are probably ideally best served applying EA because I am a splitter. (hoping for a 168-170 from Oct/10).
Any suggestions or ideas of how EA really works?
My numbers were incredibly marginal (3.45/168). While traditionally "good enough" for Cornell, I think they probably just didn't know how low they were going to need to dip to fill up the class in light of the uptick in applications last year. I will say that as someone with marginal numbers, I think having applied EA helped me in finally gaining admission in May - i.e., I doubt I would have ultimately been accepted had I been an RD candidate with the same numbers.
Anyway, good luck to everyone!!! If anyone has any questions, there are a bunch of 1Ls and 2Ls who fairly regularly populate this thread: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... =4&t=41118.

When they say that the EA should be submitted by Nov.1, do they mean that you can submit it anytime before midnight on Nov. 1st?

Submitted 10/29. Looking forward to being rejected hearing back earlier than my other reach/match hybrids.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
You have a very good shot at admission. You're right at their LSAT median (and incidentally, 75th %ile), and just above their GPA median. You have a better shot than me with my 166 and 3.94 (and I still think I have a decent chance).Arbiter213 wrote:Submitted 10/29.
