I visited last week and loved it. Sat in on a class, and my tour guide was very friendly and laid-back. I asked if I could submit a Why Texas essay, but I don't think the woman in admissions really understood my question, because she kept talking about the personal statement. Did anyone submit one?

will be submitting as soon as I finish my PS. Texas is in my top 3 choices, can't beat that in-state tuition

Texas 1L here.

Last year, they said that they didn't want a seperate "why Texas," but to incorporate it into the personal statement, so perhaps it goes for this year, too.

I just pretend the UCLA game didn't happen. It's true that Gilbert has some great potential but we lost a lot of key players last year so the expectations were a little freaking ridiculous at the beginning of the season. By the time we went to UT (fingers crossed), things should have improved!

Has anyone's status changed to "Under Review"?

Mine says:
Current File Status
Your application file is complete
Then at the bottom:
Status Updates
Your JD application was processed on September 20, 2010 and is currently being considered for Early Decision
Looking at last year's thread the first acceptances went out the last week of October. Hopefully we get some movement this coming week. Best of luck to everyone!

Thanks for the heads up. I am under review now too. My application was processed on September 24. I hope we'll start hearing from them soon

So under current status does it read "under review" or is it the same as mine? I am not sure if I am actually under review yet. I believe that bottom portion has read like that since they initially sent me the status checker information.

If I recall correctly, the UT status checker is supposed to be pretty much useless. I think people reported their status still being "complete" when they received decisions. I may be wrong, though, I don't feel like going to look it up.

Ah.... Sorry for the confusion. In my late night browsing I misread your post as if you were under review then in my unwarranted excitement I misinterpreted my status checker :(
My "current status" still says complete and you guys are right that the "status update" portion at the bottom always read that it was being considered for Ed .

Again I'm sorry for the confusion. All this waiting is turning me into a looney bin.
But good luck to everyone! I hope last years decision dates are indicative of what's to come!

How is Texas on Splitters, anyone know? Thought I had a 3.5+ and hopefully a 168+, but realized today that my GPA will be much lower due to having to include classes that I thought wouldn't be on the record. asd;lfkjasdf;lkj

Anecdotal evidence suggests that Texas is not kind to splitters.

Did you all apply early decision or regular? Do regular decision applicants receive notification this early?

This is correct. If you apply before the EA deadline, you are considered for the EA applicant pool whether or not you check the box on the app. It's not binding, so it doesn't really make a difference either way.

Has anyone gotten their mail yet today?

Maybe the decision date is to be today, and first group of people should hear wed - fri when the letters get to them

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
