yeah, though many schools mention that there is a "slight" advantage in applying early, yale specifically says (in multiple places) that it does not matter. the faculty review process is the same, and the standards are the same.
that said - if you look at the decision dates chart, they definitely do rolling notification for some people (aka when they decide you are in, they let you know)...
EDIT: and this is why I *still* haven't finished my application

No. Next time you hear from them will be your decision. By phone if accepted.

...Crap. So if we're international, will they shell out for said international phone call or just go with an email you think?

Has anyone gotten a package from Yale in the mail? Not an acceptance package obviously (how I wish that were the case) but I got one with sample personal statements and sample 250s.

I heard from a friend who got in during the 2005 cycle that she got a phone call from the dean of admissions.
Also, H interviews candidates via phone - even the international applicants.
I see no reason why international applicants might be treated different in this regard~

I'm not applying, but I got one last year from their Latino Students Association.

I got their Latino package this year. Which just worked to depress me because they applications seemed so much better than mine. Stanford latino package included Resumes which were even more depressing. Puerto Rican here with a 3.75 and a 170. I'm still applying but I definitely do not feel comfortable. Just waiting for my LORs.

lol yeah when I read the package (I got the Pacific Islander, Asian, Native American one) my reaction was just like
I understand they sent out these packages to encourage us to apply, but I think they may actually have the opposite effect

Looks like mid-December from last year's topic. I think they clear out Asha's ~60 presumptive admits in December/January and then the rest whenever faculty get back to them in January-April... but that's just a guess based on what it was looking like in last year's topic.

Hi. I had a question for the people who already applied. For questions 5 on Yale's application, it tells you to list your ec activities, etc. Did you guys really just write a list of stuff you did, or did you write short descriptions as well? Thanks.

Does receiving this package mean anything? I also got one from PANA. I was surprised by the fact that they categorized me as a minority, while schools would normally put me in international/foreign nationality category..?
I wasn't thinking of applying to yale, but now that they've bothered themselves to send me a package, i might as well just give it a shot, albeit a very looonng one...

Just called Yale. Apparently you do not need Dean's Certs for community college classes you took while enrolled in a 4 year school, you took over the summer, or you took while in high school.
This is contrary to what i've been hearing anecdotally on TLS, so I thought i'd share.

Im really happy I have no reason to waste $112 on a nice rejection letter from this school.. Good luck to the rest of all you masochists.

The angst will be worth it if some of us get lucky and have no grades for 3 three years.

In case you didn't know, last year, Yale announced on Twitter the days it was calling admits. Here's a link if you want to follow/stalk. You can see the history of when they called last cycle.
http://twitter.com/ylsadmissions
First calls went out 12/11.
