Re: LSU 2011
They had an online chat today. They said they've changed their application process to paperless, and while they have sent out acceptances, the majority won't go out until mid-January.

Re: LSU 2011
I had really wanted to join the chat! Coincidentally, I was at a doctor's appointment in Baton Rouge at the time.
Did they mention anything about the applicants they have accepted at this point? Were they generally people who turned in their applications very early, really standout applicants (very high LSAT, etc.), out-of-state applicants, etc.? Or did it sound like the acceptances have been somewhat random? I guess I'm just trying to figure out if there's a method to their madness. It's somewhat comforting that most of the acceptances will go out in mid-January. I'm going to try to just chill until then.

Re: LSU 2011
They didn't say. Based on the numbers on lsn though, I wouldn't say the LSAT scores were really high. They did stress that the admission decision is comprehensive, so maybe the combination of good scores and good softs let those early decisions easier?
I'm just glad I can quit stalking the mail lady now. At least until mid-January.

Also, I know I mentioned this earlier, but I'm currently an undergrad at LSU. If anyone has any questions about Baton Rouge, student housing, etc., let me know!

IN via Snail Mail!!! However, my PAWS account never expanded to include "Law School Courses." It does have "Housing Application," but that's always been there since I'm an LSU undergrad. I'm so excited!

Went complete 11/30. I didn't receive any information on setting up a PAWS account?

Re: LSU 2011
I am almost definitely going to LSU. I got a 50% scholarship to Loyola New Orleans, but LSU is the better school. I've heard much better things about student life/culture at LSU versus at Loyola. Besides, being an LSU undergrad, it would be fabulous to not have to move.
I'm going to wait and see if I get into any of the other schools I applied to (University of Houston and Texas Wesleyan) and if I get any scholarships before making a final decision. But I will probably end up at LSU!

Your numbers are almost the same as mine (2.85/162), so that makes me a little less nervous. What extracurriculars/etc did you have? Congrats!

Re: LSU 2011
I am 7 years our of undergrad so I am not sure if my UG GPA and softs were really strongly considered. I actually didn't even list the majority of my UG activities and just listed professional awards, licenses and certifications that I have. My LOR were also all from practicing attorneys that I work closely with, one of which is an LSU alum.txag10 wrote:Your numbers are almost the same as mine (2.85/162), so that makes me a little less nervous. Not sure if any of that helps you out at all. Good luck.

Re: LSU 2011
Yes. Well pretty close. I was accepted with a 3.89 and 156. Non URM. There doesn't seem to be a clear pattern to how LSU is making decisions. The admissions staff did say in one of their chat sessions that decisions are made much quicker beginning in January though. Good luck!brendaan wrote:ANybody accepted with similar credentials as I? 3.55 gpa Lsat:156

Re: LSU 2011
A Paws account is for all LSU students. As soon as I sent in my application they sent me an email saying that they had assigned me a Paws account. However, I still can't figure out all of this talk about the account expanding or not expanding. I've been accepted but I haven't noticed any change.brendaan wrote:what is paws account?? From reading over the 2010 LSU thread most of the folks received their scholarship notices within 4-6 weeks of the acceptance letter.

Re: LSU 2011
My LSAT was a 155, and I got in. My GPA was higher than yours, though (3.95). But your GPA is still above the median, and your LSAT is only two points below the median.brendaan wrote:ANybody accepted with similar credentials as I? 3.55 gpa Lsat:156

Well for a non anecdotal response, they mentioned it in the last webchat.A12345 wrote:BLin98 wrote:From reading over the 2010 LSU thread most of the folks received their scholarship notices within 4-6 weeks of the acceptance letter.

12/21/2010 14:06 leftwich When do you anticipate sending scholarship information?
12/21/2010 14:07 Beth Scholarship Committee will begin meeting in mid-January. All applicants who are admitted will automatically be considered for scholarships available.
12/21/2010 14:24 KellyJ If one receives a scholarship, are those letters sent at the same time as the acceptance letter? Or later?
12/21/2010 14:24 Beth KellyJ - no. The scholarship committee meets after the admissiosn committee and usually not as frequently. They may meet on 2-3 times a month.

Re: LSU 2011
I just received an email that stated the following
the weird part is I was accepted at the beginning of December and have already received an admission packet. Did anyone else receive a similar email? I actually thought it was an email informing me about a scholarship offer :/
Dear XXXX:
I am delighted to inform you that because of your outstanding accomplishments you have been accepted as a member of the LSU Law Center's Class of 2014! Expect to receive an official acceptance package by mail in the coming weeks. Please contact our office if you have any questions concerning your admission to LSU Law. Congratulations and we look forward to welcoming you to the Law Center!
