Re: UCLA? 2011
Looks like the first wave of acceptances last year was within 1-2 weeks of first wave of completions. So let's hope some will come out next Friday!

Re: UCLA? 2011
Thank you for that feedback. I took my PT average score and subtracted 3 points just because the real deal is different than Prep. That said, I don't choke under pressure (The military got that out of me) so I don't anticipate any real degradation in score unless the Oct LSAT has specialized jargon like PT 59 did. In THAT case, it'll be Dec LSAT for me.r6_philly wrote:Even with 166 I think you should have other options in T20, I don't really think you would be shut out. You may also be able to get in a scholar program somewhere if your softs are really outstanding, so doing ED may preclude that. Well I guess good luck on the test and see how it turns out!Aggiegrad2011 wrote:Checking in! I am not sure whether to ED or not. I have a 3.98 LSAC GPA with a lot of fantastic softs (including combat experience via the US Army) and I am PT'ing between 164-169. Once the Oct. scores come in, if it's anywhere in the 166~ range, I'll ED. If not, RD I go. I'd have to give up Berkeley, which is my dream school and one I had targeted letters directed toward, but the Epstein program @ UCLA is intriguing too, and I don't want to get shut out of the T20.
Tough calls...
How unlikely is it that I would be accepted this cycle if I were to be forced into the Dec LSAT (e.g., my Oct LSAT ends up being <165 and I need to re-take?)

You never know you may get lucky and get a test that agrees with you, or unlucky where you get stuck on one game or passage. Also you may get lucky with the experimental or not. Never know. For some it is about not getting nervous, but since performance is so mentally driven, luck has a lot to do with it - since when you end up sitting has an impact on your performance (because you get a different booklet).Aggiegrad2011 wrote: Thank you for that feedback. Anyway, Dec. isn't really terribly late. Especially if you get the rest of your material ready. If you end up scoring a little lower than expected, then go ahead and apply early to a few safety schools with your current score and then submit application to the reach/targets and have them wait for the dec. score. Since there is always a chance you don't improve in Dec. you don't want to screw yourself by not even applying at your safeties until Jan.

Re: UCLA? 2011
anybody here do the 'recommended' evaluations in addition to LORs? I'm all set to send out, unless I choose to get some evals..then it's a bit longer.
Those who've done it:
Who'd you get Evals from? Family, friends, coworkers, bosses, etc?
Those who haven't:
Did you just send 1 and not 2?
Do you feel ok about not sending them? (did someone tell you they're unnecessary?)

I sent 1 evaluations. One of my LOR writer did both for me. So I chose to send the eval instead of LOR from him because I LSAC did not yet process the LOR at that time. I don't think it is necessary, it is a new thing, no one is going to be penalized for not having it.

Hey thanks everyone! This site definitely helped me a lot, so I owe it to all of you too.
I went complete October 7th. No ED, regular decision. Dean Rob Schwartz called me and left me a voicemail. Once I called back he let me know. No scholarship offer or anything, but still pretty happy as I love LA and the lakers haha.
And also for additional info that y'all may find helpful, I submitted my application on September 14th.

Btw, for those who are at complete, did you get an e-mail after you submitted your app acknowledging receipt of your application? Or was it just the complete e-mail a few weeks later?

On September 24th I received an email thanking me for applying and explaining that they should be marking applications complete in a few weeks. I went complete on October 7th. I'm not sure if they'll send the same email to you since they already started to mark apps complete.msch0i wrote:Wow, congrats!!lakerfanimal wrote:Accepted. Does UCLA still request paper LSDAS files or have they gone electronic as well? I believe USC has gone electronic this year?

I really hope I get a phone call, and early. It would be so nice to breathe a sigh of relief and know that, no matter how the rest of the cycle goes, I am going to law school. UCLA seems like an awesome place and somewhere I would consider over some higher ranked schools, especially if they are even a little bit generous with money.

Re: UCLA? 2011
+1. Only an acceptance to a T6 could potentially tear me away from UCLA, and even that is not a given. Love the school, love the location and I have no intention of permanently residing anywhere other than SoCal.cigrainger wrote:I really hope I get a phone call, and early. I got $30K from them with my current numbers last year, so I'm pretty sure with your numbers you'll get a pretty substantial amount.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
